Tas, in reality, despite what you see or read, our new government is not trying to kill off the poor and stop them from receiving help. What they ARE trying to do is get off the layabouts, freeloaders, and fraudsters off the rolls. We have had so much abuse of the system, it's unreal. People perfectly able to work (and yes, can even get work if they desired it). We also had a system where it was near impossible to receive the help given AND get ahead eventually. Plus, there was so little responsibility taken, so few monitors, and too dang many people fighting ... there's just no way it can be sustained like this.
And now, *some* Americans think it's perfectly ok for the handouts, they have no pride and no work ethics. It's so much easier to get assistance ... again for *some* people. And it is so easy to make a living off it, too. People have found ways to get around, and even profit greatly from Welfare.
All this makes it much harder for decent people who truly are in need to get the help. We can thank the fraudsters for what is happening now. And thank the previous government bleeding the taxpayers to brainwash people into thinking this is our right to live off the government. Ever think about WHY they want us like this? Yeah, I've worked my rear end off all my life, and will continue to do so. Government handouts are the quickest way to lose control over your own life.
I really feel badly for the people who get left out because of these frauds. My mother in law now is suffering through the lunacy with her cancer (and with the Sanctuary City crap we go through here in Denver). The extra help she was getting was cut off because she wasn't a minority, and she doesn't have any real property to let the government have when she passes...nor does she need to file a tax return, as she makes so little a year on Social Security. So we had to fight tooth and nail to get her the help she needed and we are all suffering because of it. Every single month for the last 2 years, I have had to call and beg and plead for payment plans, mercy on bills, etc. And the insults are many and vile, from people who are supposed to help. My husband and I are not rich by any means, and her sister is on Social Security, too. But, we do all we can without much assistance.
But the people down the street, with several grown children well able to work, and the baby daddy's are quite healthy, they get assistance for everything. There are NO ill people in that house. The woman pulls in over $5,000 a month in Welfare benefits, and her kids get about half that much. And they aren't the only ones. This is everywhere.
Sorry for the ramble, but with so much misinformation running rampant, I just wanted you to get another view with experience.
