I should also add that it often depends on the number of years a person works at that particular place of employment.
For example at the hospital I worked at, it was one week paid vacation the first year of employment,
in addition to what I stated above in regards to sick day accumulated hours and over time accumulated
hours. After a few years, the paid vacation went to two weeks. I think after I had worked there 5 years,
I received three weeks paid vacation in addition to the OT and SD.
There was a ton of benefits working at that hospital. ALL insurance paid. I never paid a dime for
hospital, dental, eye, medications/subscriptions.... all 100% covered. Also they reimbursed college
semester costs as long as you passed with at least an overall C.
Also had my own blood bank. I am RH O- and we had the option to reserve our own blood for our
self or family emergencies. Basically, whomever we deemed to give our blood reserve to, we could.
Needless to say, if you know about blood types, my reserve was usually empty because I gave it
away.
It was a good place to work but physically and emotionally draining.
