I think the system nowadays are a bit like "we work for others so that they can earn money while we get a lousy salaries.". What I recently thought was that every period of time, the salaries increase a small percentage taking in account the minimum wage. Example: A medical doctor that starts working today would for example receive 1000$ plus 0.1*1000$ for education bonus plus 0.1*1000 for responsability plus 0.05*1000 for experience. A janitor would receive 1000$ plus 0.01*1000$ for education plus 0.01*1000 for responsability plus 0.005 for experience.
Let's just say there is janitor with 40 years of experience he would receive 1000$ plus 0.01*1000$ for education plus 0.01*1000 for responsability +40*0.005 for experience. Which means he would receive more than a medical doctor with 1 year experience.

The thing is everyone wants to be rich, but that is impossible to all the people becoming rich at the same time. In order to someone becoming rich, a lot of people must be poor. With this system everyone (would take some time) would have a comfortable life.

First, 50k per year ???? for start that is wrong ... the best offer ever was in Switzerland around 22 k per year [ rejected ]

Second ..No need to work anymore ????? think you got it 100% wrong

Third , this is in operation at few places around the world [ like trial in part of Finland , Canada etc ]

Fourth , Valerie this is nothing to do with communism

Fifth ,, we will be all rich ? forget that shit

Most important ........................57% of the world's jobs are at risk of being automated. Universal Basic Income may be our only way out.

@ tasman1,

Could not have said it better myself...

I like the idea of every US citizen receiving a minimum of $15,000 a year.

Get rid of all welfare...

By the end of the year individual tax rates are adjusted accordingly...

Some people work harder, struggle to complete undergraduate or graduate training, get professional training in order to be doctors or lawyers or make huge contributions to humanity like scientific discoveries. So it just seems unfair to me to pay everyone the same thing. I think people should have to work for it and they should be motivated to achieve a certain type of lifestyle. Why should someone who lays around the house and watches TV all day get the same pay as a person who is working 10 hours a day as an emergency physician?

However, I do support universal health care. No one should suffer and die due to lack of health care.

@ lotoole,

To me that post sounds contradictory,

On one hand nobody will work hard if they get basic income...

Yet the idea of universal health care means doctors, physicians
and other health care providers would lose their incentive to work hard...

I never met any one who suffered or died from lack of
health care... I do have experience from about 17 years ago... To the tune
of 90+ thousand dollars. Couldn't tell the exact amount, never received a bill...

Emergency room is always open...

Plus, as I stated with a minimum of $15,000 a year, you could buy your own individual health care.

Like I said, I did not and have not watched a video or visited that link.

I will say, people die every day due to NOT having health care and/or not having adequate health care.

Many USA veterans have died due to lack of health care and due to insufficient health care.

Emergency rooms are NOT always open.

In fact, many hospitals across America have shut down, especially in small town USA.

Thousands if not millions of people have suffered and died due to a lack of health care.

Laws and services vary from state to state.

There's a little something called State Aid. Want to know what happens to those people?
It's not pretty. In fact, it is mighty ugly.

It's extremely complicated.

You are very correct. With free enterprise and in a free society we have the right to work, go to school,
and make our own decisions based on what we want to do with our lives. Some people choose to marry
and become a stay at home mom. Some people choose to work at a job that only requires a high school
diploma or less. There is other people that choose to further their education and for many of those people,
it is not an easy task. When it comes to people such as doctors, that is a very very difficult field of study.
Not to mention physical and mentally stressful. In addition, those people spend more of their life in school
in addition to grueling internships.....they should be paid more.

I kind of lean more to the 'no waste' approach.
A lot of money going out the window on garbage and also way overboard on wages such as paying a
football player millions of dollars. Just seems there should be some rational there some where but
there isn't. Pharmacy's way over charging for their drugs. A drug that cost them a dime to make but
charge $400 to the patient for it. Ever ask for a toothbrush in the hospital? Best bring your own because
your liable to be charged $35 for it. Idiots in Washington tossing money out to their friends and family
and labeling it as some kind of tax write off or some sort of special funding. Throwing their big parties
and spending millions of dollars on ho's and hotel rooms. I mean seriously, we all know big corporations
administrators pay themselves bookoo millions of dollars and blow money left and right.

I don't think people should be handed a set amount of money yearly. I think people need to be
educated and training made available.

Health care or Health Insurance?

Neglect from the VA.

I had my experience in 2000, son born premature, died after 10 days...

3 Blood transfusions, 2 brain scans, extra hospital stay for mom (no reason) cost $90,000.

Of course we paid for moms care out of pocket, less then a grand.

Never got a bill for my son.

WellStar Kennestone Hospital (Non-profit Hospital)

Daughter was born there too... same year magicaly... Paid in Full...

So thanks to every one who buys a $35 toothbrush...

It has also been proposed as an idea in Denmark with about $1000 a month (Bah forget it) you can hardly live off that

But the swiss offer (22k) that's a pretty generous one

The majority of jobs will be replaced by robot? Why if the human can’t find a job? No money for human. How they are going feed their money without universal basic income for all.

Unless they are making a living taking online survey and even collecting free bitcoin faucet

Basic income for all it’s not communism. These Fox News only care themselves. They don’t care about the average joe.

Europe is doing much better than America since they are giving away free stuff to help people for survival.

American work to death doesn’t have time with family and friends. All we do work work.

That's not what universal basic income is. Rather, it's a safety net paid to everyone, that nobody can ever fall beneath. You can never earn less than universal basic income, but you can always earn more.

To Danny , free or at least low cost to the people healthcare is possible . You think the doctors would have no incentive to work ?
No, they are well paid and it is based on number of patients seen each day and their level of being a doctor.
The money comes from the government of course , who compensate ny adding a ( health tax ) on those who can easily afford to make the payment each year ( over $ 50,000.00 taxable income means roughly $ 1000.00 extra in tax .
Your Senator Bernie Sanders has had this explained to him.
As Valerie said, there are many people dying from cancer or similar who could not afford the treatments, and if they did have insurance the %$# companies refused to pay..

I don't really think you can afford to purchase your own insurance on $15000 a year. You would be lucky to have a roof over your head and adequate food.

People driven to excel I think would retain their incentive to work hard, whether for altruistic reasons or a drive for a better quality of life.

Health insurance is very expensive. Next time you pay $35 for that toothbrush, just
think of all the people struggling to pay their insurance. Tomorrow that toothbrush will
be $40 because of people that do not have health insurance but expect to be taken care
of. People that have worked all their lives and struggle to provide for their families but
they do it and they have to pay for that toothbrush and someone else too.

Handing people a grand a month is not going to change that. Not in America.

We need to wipe out the cheaters. Educate. Train. Bring back manufacturing. Stop
excessive spending. All that grand would do, is create more lazy people, and create
more of a deficit.

But the ACA promised Health insurance would cost the same as a Cell phone bill...

Which I don't have a cell phone bill by the way...

I like saving the $100 a month plus equipment for well you know private insurance...

Valerie universe basic income is coming in 5-10 years from now. Most our jobs will be replaced by robot anyway?

Are you joking?

It's a very tough world without Agriculture.

I don't have a crystal ball and I don't know what is coming.
