Chrome's autoplay policies

Disclaimer: I do not use Google's Chrome Browser...

However, Heads Up to Members completing Video Campaigns.

How to get autoplay with new Chrome changes

The new Chrome browser is pausing autoplay with sound, which will impact user ability to watch commercials.

It is critical to start the videos / ads when using Discovery Media. Not starting videos / ads will result in an automatic ban.

Quick Summary:

1. Change your preferences to turn on autoplay: chrome://flags/#autoplay-policy
Autoplay Policy > Select "No User Gesture is Required"

2. Increase your Media Engagement Index (MEI) for all BuzzTV sites, EarnHoney, and any DiscoveryMedia sites.
The MEI measures an individual's propensity to consume media on a site. Chrome's current approach is a ratio of visits to significant media playback events per origin:

Consumption of the media (audio/video) must be greater than 7 seconds.
Audio must be present and unmuted.
    Tab with video is active.
Size of the video (in px) must be greater than 200x140.

From that, Chrome calculates a media engagement score which is highest on sites where media is played on a regular basis. When it is high enough, media playback is allowed to autoplay on desktop only.

User's MEI is available at the chrome://media-engagement internal page. It only takes a few clicks / videos watched to have a high MEI score.

You may want to wait for confirmation from admin...

Since policy change for Chrome started in January, Official change/update can be any day...

Other GPT/Reward sites have notices posted...

... Or get rid of Chrome Browser. Google already knows enough about you...

Thank you so much for the information Danny even though I don't understand all of it. I only use Chromebooks (love them) so I have to use the chrome browser. I think the auto play works with the 2 Video Loyalty sites I use daily. I have trouble with all the other video earning sites. I rarely get credit for doing the EngageMe.TV videos and I tried another on Toro, I think, and it did not work.
I use to be able to do the Video Lab offers but now I get "Code B1" every time I click on it. Not 1 person has been able to help me with this problem. I have sent 2 separate help tickets about my VLab problem and they have no idea what the cause is or they say it will clear up soon. 7 months or more later & VLab will not work for me. Do you have any ideas on this problem? I would love to hear them.
I have replaced the PTC ads by doing these videos daily. When they work, it is great & I make more money than I did with clicking on ads. The problem that I have with the Video Loyalty ads are that they don't always pay. I don't know why either. Some days I make $0.80 and others days like last Wednesday I made 1 penny for the whole day. I don't get it.
I have found that I have to use Earning Station which pays 2 cents for videos that I can get to work. I have to keep up with my daily goal no matter how I do it.
I always read your posts because you are active and care about this site like I do. Also, you always seem to have a unique slant on many topics. Keep up the good work and great earnings to you in 2018.

I had a response here, Turns out I was not logged in...

The post looked like,
Blah, blah, blah... I have the same problem with videos...

The only part of my post above that could be of importance is,

1. Change your preferences to turn on autoplay: chrome://flags/#autoplay-policy
Autoplay Policy > Select "No User Gesture is Required"

The rest is automatic.
The more you visit a site/play videos, it will get a higher score in Google's eyes.

It all has to do with the version of Chrome you use... That info. applies to the next update.

OfferToro VideoLabs - Sometime I get a few runs at 12:00am.
Lately, though -- Nothing, "Trying again in 5 minutes."
Been a While, Couple days...

I had a good run with Adscend EngageMeTV the past couple of days.
That might be over though, Long time with no ads early this morning.

VideoLoyalty - I noticed not crediting late last night.
(seemed like requirement doubled. Instead of credit after 6 it was more like 12)
;) Secret - Same result directly from the source. Some videos don't load, rarely credit.

I haven't run anything today, Will note any funny business...

The problems are not isolated to you ("Code B1") or ClixSense...

I am on a desktop PC, Circa 2006, Windows 10Pro, Edge Browser.
(My other hardware is kept in a Faraday cage when not in use, Russian hacking and all ;) )

I will post my findings.

Nothing else going on today. #BringBackWebsitesExplorer :P

By changing autoplay as suggested, what will this accomplish?

- Hot Linked -

Not Allowing Auto Play will result in,

A) More people complaining videos not crediting from auto play being blocked.
You know when the page refreshes, next video wont play.

B) Getting Banned from viewing videos. Similar to running Ad Block.

By changing autoplay policy as suggest, videolab lab is still give same warning as if no changed were made!

I've having some doubts towards google company at large and below are my assumptions:

  1. Gmail: For considering honest paying program as scam by blocking activation email messages for example
  2. Google chrome: For autoplay changes not being carried to user request

It seems to me that company doesn't like seeing user earning at all
While they expect user purchasing their junk and when they acting in such manner, this uncalled for!

Until they clear up those bugs and changing on better positive manner, all updates for google are being disable from my system. Enough of that arrogant company

edited

I also confirm when in videolab (cars), I am force to press arrow on video even with one of the autoply set:
"No User Gesture is Required" or default

That got to be bug for sure.

Until bug fix or allowing website to on whitelist to override that policy, my assumption towards google will not change!

where can I sent ticket to report such thing and perhaps, I can suggest them a better setting to override such thing?
When inside videolab - cars area, I see no possible sending a ticket.

@ splat44,

"By changing autoplay policy as suggest, videolab lab is still give same warning as if no changed were made!"

It is a default warning gif/video - Everybody gets it at first launch.

And it's not VideoLab.

"Gmail: For considering honest paying program as scam by blocking activation email messages for example"

Maybe those honest paying programs could spend more time on website development.
That way their email won't be blocked.
Emails don't travel well from free/$1 webhosting services...
I was an original invitee by google when Gmail was beta.
Never a problem.
Poor email/scripts used by site owners happens all the time.
Copy/Paste coders...

"I also confirm when in videolab (cars), I am force to press arrow on video even with one of the autoply set:
"No User Gesture is Required" or default"

Again... VideoLabs does not have a car channel...

So, Lets talk about VideoLoyalty - Automotive (or more importantly, Discovery Media, as mentioned),
The video will not auto play as expected when there are no ads.
Not a bug. Just close it, try again later...

Ok just to be clear:
Then video will autoplay when there some ads! Correct?
by setting autoplay policy "No User Gesture is Required" does this mean video playing should kick in without user intervention?

If not then what is this?

In Chrome 61 (or whatever version is next)

Google Chrome is expected to block ALL autoplay/mute sound on any website.
(Like Facebook has done)

"by setting autoplay policy "No User Gesture is Required" does this mean video playing should kick in without user intervention?"

That's the idea...

"What is this?"

It looks like post #14 written by me that you quoted.

Really, google expect muting all sound and autoplay from website, well if this is true then this wrong action on their part!

Few survey, offer and tasks uses audio or webcam.
I'm sure when new user download google chrome and hearing no sound they will freak out!
Goodness, we not using google servers an't we?

Google chrome isn't just for experts here and it seems obvious google don't like theirs junk being for earning!
As I previously said "they expect users purchasing they junk and at same time want user earning"?

That's it, no more updates from google chrome from system!

Ok but what I don't is Increase media engagement index area!

You also mentions MEI is available on some video page via chrome but is it some numbers or sort of?
Where MEI should be shown?

If MEI is invisible to users, than I doubt owners will change this!

Using comment as chrome://media-engagement internal page, it confusing
