Yeah, Dollar General is taking over the world. But enter at your own risk because they are
robbed every day.

I love Dollar General :) They put one in less than 3 miles from me last fall. Their seasonal items are so cute and cheap. I have many of their items, and like the Clover Valley food brand. My younger sister has never stepped foot in the place, so she is missing out. She thinks I'm weird for shopping there. Oh well. To each their own I guess.

Some have a better selection than others. Before I retired, I would come to work on Casual Friday wearing cute colorful shoes and folks would ask where I got them. I'd say Dollar General so they'd say well they don't sell those at the Dollar General that I go to so I knew they thought I was lying by the tone they took. They thought I paid big $$ for them but wanted to keep the name of the store to myself LOL. I still have my animal print winter boots that I paid $5.99 for. You get a pep in your step as soon as you put them on :)

There are quite a few robberies at Dollar Generals on the news but I have never witnessed one thankfully.

Keep on trucking DG!

But grocery prices are still to expensive in the US.

I heard Aldi have started to expand in North-America, If you want low prices go see one (If it's possible of course) Don't know how many there are.

Expect lousy service and sour faces :D

I can think of at least 3 Aldi locations within 5 miles of me here in Central Ohio. They have great items. Besides food, I bought a 32 inch TV from them years ago. My sister got a 9 foot patio umbrella. They have all types of items at great prices.

Thankfully I have always dealt with cheerful employees there.

I think Aldi is the store that's going to merge with some Kohl's Department Stores, so there will be a small Aldi store inside a larger Kohl's store. We shall see if that become a hit or failure. Sort of an odd combo, but whatever works.

I haven't been to Aldi lately, so thanks for bringing them up.

Does Aidi doesnt hired a lot of employee? They do not even have cashier? They use self checkout.

You have to pay quarter to use shopping cart.

I have not been to Aldi lately, but they always had at least one cashier when I was there. You put a quarter in the slot to get a shopping cart, as they figure you will want your quarter back, so will return the cart and not leave it in the parking lot. Great idea.

At the end of a day Tasmania will never see Aldi ....end of a story for me

It is not strange , nobody come here , only 2 retailers , only one power company , one bus company and much more , one ferry company , not to mention everything cost 50-100% more

Govt try to bring few migrants but they all run to mainland , they call us poor comunist

heck , it looks like bad communist shit here

Will Dollar General ever come here ? no way , they will preffer harakiri

I always thought you were exaggerating a bit Tas!!, But after a bit of research it seems that Tasmania ranks bottom in nearly every aspect in Australia.

But that's exactly why Aldi should open stores in Tasmania, With a poverty rate above 14% it would perfect for them to settle in Tasmania. If people are poor they need cheap groceries.

Actually i think it's stupid of them not opening over there.

I've just been on a trip to Tasmania on Google maps, And no it's actually larger than i thought.

And also Hobart dosn't look like a poor city to me, It actually looks quite nice.

In Europa they say Croatia for it size have a small population only around 5 million
Tasmania have only 500 000 but it is 10% bigger

And remember Tasmania is known in Australia as welfare state , and it is mostly govt owned or business working here have federal subsidy , example .... Metro is biggest bus company in Australia but in tasmania they are sold to govt .... loss every year for govt here
