My experience buying on Amazon US from Brazil

Generally I spend all the money that I gain here buying on Amazon US, because I cannot find a store that accepts the visa prepaid card here in Brazil.

Amazon ships to Brazil by two major carriers, UPS and DHL.
When the product is shipped by UPS, before the product even being sent to Brazil they ask for CPF/tax ID. And when the product arrives the customs clearance process is very fast (it takes one to 3 three days).

But when it is shipped by DHL. They are very fast, the product leaves US and arrives in Brazil within fews days. But when the product arrives... they say that the delay in customs is caused because the product arrived without Tax ID/CPF information, and that it was my fault :o , because it was my resposability to insert the Tax ID info on my package before it being sent to Brazil :?: :?: ...(I wonder how...) ... I tought with myself: "Ok, I will learn with this error, next time, i will follow closely the tracking page, and I will contact them to give the tax ID info before the package arrives in Brazil... "And I did it :D ...But, the DHL representative from Brazil said that they could not do this before the product's depart from US

Cool, it arrived again without Tax Id info... I'm sure it is my fault because i'm idiot...    5 days customs clearing delay so far...

I sent my info 5 days ago, and today, talking with their representatives on their chat (sometimes they ignore you or end the chat), They said that they didn't not have the info, and asked me again... Their final words were: "we have no idea when you are going to receive your package".

Yeah...What a ignorant I am...

I am sorry you had bad experiences - Luckily there are fulfillment centers in my country and I order only the respective amazon site. I have not had any bad experiences with AMAZON ordering process itself or items ordered, however, one thing, support is horrible. Ok their representatives are very courteous and make you believe they care and will doe everything to help you out, but in the end it's all just rubbish. As far as DHL, I have dealt with this courrier in the past, they are in my opinion one of the absolute worse I have dealt with - Their support is horrible and I think they are shady at best, they tried charging me fees claiming it was custom fees, even on a low value item I received as gift which was clearly exempt, I never paid the damn bill, and despite reaching out to them over the phone, nobody could ever help me or provide answers, clearly was scammed there, they never followed back on that and anything I owed was removed, never again did I deal with DHL since. I am not surprised of your story though this to me is clearly neglect from DHL staff in making sure the appropriate paperwork is prepared before shipping the product.

I think it is neglect too, because I had sent my info days ago...And today they asked for this information again, and when I mentioned it to the representative on the chat my arguments were ignored... And on the tracking page, up to this moment, it is still displaying that further info is needed....I will find out soon if they really added the information or are taking me for an idiot...

I think what I would do is find out for sure how the item is going to be shipped
and if it is DHL simply do not buy that item.

Unfortunately, on amazon US, I just discover who the carrier is after the tracking code is given to me... And I'm not sure, at least, up to this moment if i will refuse their service in the future... No hard feelings about them... so far... , I will wait to see how this all will end up....

If ti is amazon that fulfill the order there is no way to know until the item is shipped :) Luckily I am an Amazon Prime member and everything I ordered so far arrived the very next early morning, even if I order late evening early night :) in my case they use a private same day / next day courrier, had no issues so far, I would for sure refuse ANYTHING from DHL even if they had it delivered the same day :) There are horror stories with DHL and other fast courriers throwing packages, stealing, delivering to wrong addresses etc - I guess some areas seem more affected than others.

Try to contact AMAZON support and ask them if there are other alternatives for shipment in your area, usually when you ship you have a choice between speed of shipment, do you have this in your case ? If you can settle for longer shipping times, for sure they would not ship by DHL and might use regular postal service or some other carrier, or maybe not ;) I guess it would be best to ask, unfortunately, AMAZON's support is less than stellar which is shocking.

My experience is the complete opposite...I have always found Amazon support to be top notch (maybe the UK arm is better than the American one when it comes to support or they are less busy perhaps?)...they always respond quickly and deal with my issue quickly and without fuss. They are even good with a product that needs replacing outside their 30 day return window....a few years ago, I bought a PS3 game from them which, 6 months later, stopped working and they replaced it without question.

I have also heard from many others about situations where Amazon were good and flexible with returns etc, no doubt this is good, of course in my particular cases I have never had to return something, but in every instance I used their support they never followed up with me or resolved anything. They responded very quickly though and were courteous and made me believe each time that they will do everything to make it right, but then never hear from them. I had issues where their support said they would escalate my ticket and for sure have someone get back to me, nobody ever did......For Amazon prime I contacted them once to inquire about something specific / issue, same, they acknowledged me and everything but no follow-ups were ever made. I have not yet experienced order fulfillment type support yet so I can only judge them based on my own interactions, I hope I will never have to require support for returns and such. Prior to using Amazon, I ordered my stuff from a computer distributor and the level of service I got was top notch, and I've also dealt locally here before that, and always got a top notch service. I guess there are AREAS maybe that Amazon is not good at dealing with, but one thing I do notice is a pattern, they have agents who are super polite and will use the same terminology, that they will "personally take care of it", get it right, etc, I have read the same patterns from several different agents, they did not follow...... The only reason I am still using Amazon is because I am satisfied with the service (outside of support), I have always received my products, often faster then the expected time, in good condition and shipped well. I hope one day I get to experience good support though. I am glad the experience has been a positive one for you.
