planting FRUIT and NUT trees so the hungry can grab something to eat.
That's the problem Valerie, money runs the world, and alternatives would mean less jobs, less money, less profits, in theory depending on the industry. Alternatives in many markets DO exist, but they are being blocked by corporate greed, lobbying and governments. Here are some examples, as you probably know, the medical industry is in the trillion $, there could be cures for diabetes, cancer, aids, I'm convinced of that, imagine a cure for most diseases, what would it mean for the pharma industry that makes billions of $ from selling their GARBAGE, which is essentially poison in the long run to unsuspecting patients ? They would be out of business because you would only need a few courses of a drug for a cure and that's it, as opposed to continual renewals for pills you must take most or all of your life. The bulk of the business is repeat business and renewals. Anti depressants, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. Asking people to eat healthy and exercise is not a guarantee, due to genetics, you may be predisposed of being unhealthy despite your efforts, so a cure would be effective, but it would not be profitable for any industry to distribute a one off pill, and they know that if they sold it for a hefty price nobody would buy that, and insurance companies are not on board with it either.
Let's talk about fuel now - for sure there have been actual alternatives tested against actual oil, people who attempted that got threatened and were blocked by the oil companies, as fuel alternatives would be cheaper and more sustainable, therefore cheaper, you'd likely be able to do your own without going to the gas pump.
Alternatives in food and feeding oneself, that is good, but the food industry also accounts for a trillion $, they want you as consumer to eat their processed food garbage and clog your arteries and get ill, so you can then get treated for them. Alternative to buying food is all good, but nowadays people are constantly on the go and have no time to breath, and companies make it convenient for you to eat garbage without efforts.
Having researched the field and well familiar with the medical industry, there have been promising research, gene manipulation, cancer treatment experiments, etc, yet nothing, there is a reason for that, progress is being slowed down and some completely blocked over big profits. Take cholesterol lowering drugs, some have side effects and cause damage long term - they may help control one problem but create new problems. Same for weight loss, a trillion $ SCAM industry, telling people that bariatric surgery is the only effective method for morbidly obese, yoyo dieters where nothing else works........for such cases, I'm sure there are alternatives to surgery, it exists on paper, but companies do not want to mass market and produce it, it would mean less surgeries, less hospitalization, if you consider for example in the UK, it could cost around £7,000-£14,000 depending on the type of surgery (band or roux-en-y), etc. Look at all the other type of surgeries some at the cost of several hundreds of thousands... Alternatives would be good, they exist, but the medical field chose to look the other way in favour of trillions of $ and putting patients under the knife, and subject to high risk and long term damage from the anesthetics given nowadays which is literally POISON.
It's a hopeless damn case to be honest, as long as money rules the world and under corporate greed, let's face it, we are doomed ! Do we really need billions of $ and big salaries, what about the bare minimums to live, or even live decently, you would still not need all the massive amounts of money some people are making, it's ridiculous ! But no, people want more, more, more even if they have more money than they will ever use in 3 lifetimes.
Greed, evil and corruption rule the world, how can we expect change in the right direction ?
They are encouraging people to stop driving their cars to work and take public transit instead. RIGHT, packed like sardines next to people, and sometimes not everyone is keen on washing themselves, and don't get me started on the amount of crazy people on public transit, just watch some youtube videos - I have seen it personally in person.
They tell people to use electric cars - yeah that is if you have the money for that luxury, once your car battery goes tits up, be prepared to pay a hefty sum for maintenance and repair / maintenance. There is always obstacles and blockages to block progress in some subtle ways sometimes.
Have we passed the point of no return, yes, this is what Trump is probably saying in his mind "we're f***** anyways, why bother", I disagree - whilst maybe we are f*****, we CAN still slow down are demise and maybe halt progress, isn't that better than nothing ? than continuing to kill ourselves each day ?
That said no President of the US, or Canada, or whatever country has been serious at all about climate change and efforts in that regards it's all fluff!
