My state is known as God's own country; but now that definition has become obsolete. In the last year it suffered from intense flood taking many lives. This year the state is suffering from intense heat wave killing 3 persons. Such incidence were rare in the state ,if we look at its history . The climate of the place is the best in the world with lots of vegetations and secure life. Even though the other parts of the country used to suffer from intense heat and floods this state was always secure. This year the temperature is rising day by day and reached 42 degrees in certain parts which the state has never experienced. This makes an alarming indication of climate change that life forms including man are in danger. So rather than concentrating on the development of technologies I would say the governments all over the world should focus on the protection of nature and reduce population explosion, Man should also be aware that all other life form are as important as humans for the nature.

Yes summer heat is increasing day by day

instead of blaming heat and nature why don't we humans take precautions for self

1. by not going out in heat when the temperature is too hot

2. stay indoors

3. keep your self hydrated by drinking fluids, mainly most of water content, coconut water, lemon juice and cool chilled fruits

4. even buttermilk also helps

if there is any emergency to go out can go before 11 AM and come back soon because after 12 in afternoon heat is too much

The climate seasons will do their duty as per the months :)

as humans what precautions are we taking for ourselves ?

Its nothing it's a natural phenomenon, its the heightened period of El Nino, water at the east central equatorial Pacific gets warmer during this period this year monsoon is expected to be below normal, warmer air comming in will cause temperatures to rise.

Some people say that we have passed the point of no return, damage is done, maybe we have - but we can LIMIT damage from getting worse IMO. I agree about your assessment though, this change in weather is happening world wide. We had an excruciating summer in 2018 here as well, but here is something odd, in the winter, it is opposite, it is colder, more snowy, BUT in between melts and ice. Even a change in global temperature by 2 degrees is enough to cause big changes. Unfortunately there is no going back, technology has become part of life for everyone and companies are making it evolve at a higher pace - unfortunately it is high profits first, safety and well being last as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and the middle class is wiped off the planet. Sad reality. Certain key players in this mess, particularly the US and Canada have done nothing and shown no interest in improving upon this situation and do their part, sadly, instead, our country's prime minister is more concerned on pleasing his young fan base, legalizing drugs and increasing the country's deficit, just like his father did. Yet in the summertime here you hear many stories of floods and bad weather, people losing their homes because of such weather, AND insurance companies no longer supporting claims for such as they are deemed act of God. and in some cases if you want such protection you'd have to pay triple rate.

it's not going to get better sadly, I mean there is only so much people can do, it's the government and corporations that must act first.

These precautions can be followed by ;we the people who work in offices or other enterprises, but the poor labourers or farmers who meet their daily earnings by working under the sun has no option but suffer

instead of suffering farmers can wear bamboo based hats to keep their heads cool

the states where there are more number of trees would be preparing hats too

where there is a way there is a will to do it

I don't think there is much one can do about it.

People often want to blame people for the climate change but I do beg to differ
a lot on that subject. No doubt people are to blame to an extent. After all, it
can't be good for all the ocean life to be full of plastic and trash, dare to mention
the planet itself. Then there is the extraction of fossils and fracking, etc. So truly
we do need alternatives. I am not sure about trees. It can actually be very good
for fires to burn off wooded areas and plant life as a fertile part of regrowth. Many
people do and companies do, plant new trees and such afterwards. There's also
people that have children like jack rabbits. Some times it is due to their religious
faith and other times it is due to nothing more than carelessness. I do believe in
implementing some population restrictions. Isn't having 1, 2, or 3 children enough
in this day and time?

Weather has not been recorded very long, less than 150 years. I believe the
majority of what we are experiencing in weather, is nothing so new. We can
see by looking at the formations of the earth, cracks, craters, etc, that the
weather is always changing. Look at the Grand Canyon as an example.

What we need to do as a people in todays world, is focus on alternatives and
implement some legal rules that are enforced.

Some things are very simple yet we wonder why we don't do them. Such as
planting FRUIT and NUT trees so the hungry can grab something to eat.

That's the problem Valerie, money runs the world, and alternatives would mean less jobs, less money, less profits, in theory depending on the industry. Alternatives in many markets DO exist, but they are being blocked by corporate greed, lobbying and governments. Here are some examples, as you probably know, the medical industry is in the trillion $, there could be cures for diabetes, cancer, aids, I'm convinced of that, imagine a cure for most diseases, what would it mean for the pharma industry that makes billions of $ from selling their GARBAGE, which is essentially poison in the long run to unsuspecting patients ? They would be out of business because you would only need a few courses of a drug for a cure and that's it, as opposed to continual renewals for pills you must take most or all of your life. The bulk of the business is repeat business and renewals. Anti depressants, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. Asking people to eat healthy and exercise is not a guarantee, due to genetics, you may be predisposed of being unhealthy despite your efforts, so a cure would be effective, but it would not be profitable for any industry to distribute a one off pill, and they know that if they sold it for a hefty price nobody would buy that, and insurance companies are not on board with it either.

Let's talk about fuel now - for sure there have been actual alternatives tested against actual oil, people who attempted that got threatened and were blocked by the oil companies, as fuel alternatives would be cheaper and more sustainable, therefore cheaper, you'd likely be able to do your own without going to the gas pump.

Alternatives in food and feeding oneself, that is good, but the food industry also accounts for a trillion $, they want you as consumer to eat their processed food garbage and clog your arteries and get ill, so you can then get treated for them. Alternative to buying food is all good, but nowadays people are constantly on the go and have no time to breath, and companies make it convenient for you to eat garbage without efforts.

Having researched the field and well familiar with the medical industry, there have been promising research, gene manipulation, cancer treatment experiments, etc, yet nothing, there is a reason for that, progress is being slowed down and some completely blocked over big profits. Take cholesterol lowering drugs, some have side effects and cause damage long term - they may help control one problem but create new problems. Same for weight loss, a trillion $ SCAM industry, telling people that bariatric surgery is the only effective method for morbidly obese, yoyo dieters where nothing else works........for such cases, I'm sure there are alternatives to surgery, it exists on paper, but companies do not want to mass market and produce it, it would mean less surgeries, less hospitalization, if you consider for example in the UK, it could cost around £7,000-£14,000 depending on the type of surgery (band or roux-en-y), etc. Look at all the other type of surgeries some at the cost of several hundreds of thousands... Alternatives would be good, they exist, but the medical field chose to look the other way in favour of trillions of $ and putting patients under the knife, and subject to high risk and long term damage from the anesthetics given nowadays which is literally POISON.

It's a hopeless damn case to be honest, as long as money rules the world and under corporate greed, let's face it, we are doomed ! Do we really need billions of $ and big salaries, what about the bare minimums to live, or even live decently, you would still not need all the massive amounts of money some people are making, it's ridiculous ! But no, people want more, more, more even if they have more money than they will ever use in 3 lifetimes.

Greed, evil and corruption rule the world, how can we expect change in the right direction ?

They are encouraging people to stop driving their cars to work and take public transit instead. RIGHT, packed like sardines next to people, and sometimes not everyone is keen on washing themselves, and don't get me started on the amount of crazy people on public transit, just watch some youtube videos - I have seen it personally in person.

They tell people to use electric cars - yeah that is if you have the money for that luxury, once your car battery goes tits up, be prepared to pay a hefty sum for maintenance and repair / maintenance. There is always obstacles and blockages to block progress in some subtle ways sometimes.

Have we passed the point of no return, yes, this is what Trump is probably saying in his mind "we're f***** anyways, why bother", I disagree - whilst maybe we are f*****, we CAN still slow down are demise and maybe halt progress, isn't that better than nothing ? than continuing to kill ourselves each day ?

That said no President of the US, or Canada, or whatever country has been serious at all about climate change and efforts in that regards it's all fluff!

I'm doing my part.

My lawn mower arrives tomorrow.
It's a 14 inch cut, 5 blade, push mower. No gas.

I have a small yard now. Last summer, I moved in near the end of summer.
The mow man that was mowing this yard through the estate folks, I continued
to pay until end of season. He only charged me $25 every two weeks. He mows
lots of peoples yard in the area. He'd pull up with his long trailer, unload the his
riding mower, and mow my yard. I timed him a couple of times. One time he
mowed it in 6 minutes and another time in 5 minutes. He'd do a tad of weed
eating and blow the grass of the drive.

Mo man knocked on my door a week ago and I told him I wouldn't be using
his services that I'd be mowing it myself.

I paid about $67 for the little push mower. My sister said she will come over
and laugh at me whilst I mow. I told her I would get the last laugh.
After all, I won't be buying gas, I won't be buying oil, I won't be paying for
maintenance, and I won't have any trouble with it taking up a lot of room.

Sure it will certainly take me longer than 5 minutes to mow it. So what. I'll
get exercise and fresh air without the gas fumes or dirt blowing in my face.
They say these mowers will hang up ever time you run over a twig. Eh, more
exercise, rake first, mow second.

I was going to get a cordless mower. After looking in to them, some don't
even come with the battery. Many problems with the batteries too. That's
in the cordless mower's under a couple hundred bucks. I am guessing for
more money, they may be better.

Then I almost decided to get a corded electric mower. No problems with a
battery if you use a cord. You just have to watch out and not mow over the
cord. lol

I'm going to see how this little rotary mower works for me. I may try a
corded mower if I feel the rotary blade push mower is not going to cut
the mustard....errrrr....grass.

Even if they take all precautions they cannot escape from the dehydration that is much high during the period . Most deaths are due to dehydration in people working under the sun. So government has rescheduled working hours for labourers before 11 M and after 3 pm and even at late night.

Yes you have to watch out not to mow the electric cord, but that can be inevitable, it happens, this is why it is extremely important that you have a GFCI protected outlet where the mower is plugged, it is set to trip if the + / - continuity is broken (short) and would in theory save your life if you run over your cord :D Mower or not it is a good idea to have GFCI protected outlets outside your home, it might be code to have those anyway, depending on state / country, some are required in areas like garage, bathroom, etc. For the battery ones you must check their rating, how long they can run on a full charge, for a small backyard it might be sufficient to get the job done on a charge, as far as the battery ones not familiar with them or how long those batteries last and how many charge cycles, but these batteries can be quite expensive to change, probably as much as the mower itself :D

Then if you go electrical cord you must choose the right extension cord gauge, unless one comes with the mower, and that your circuit outside can handle the load and not connected to too many other working circuits in the house, usually the mowers are rated anywhere between under 10 amps to up to 15 amps :D So if you are using extension cords you need the right gauge, i.e. 12 gauge for a 10-15A , 16 gauge under 10A for example, so yeah it's good to use alternatives to fuel, but yeah some people manage to burn their homes down due to electrical fires because they messed up somewhere :D I'm skeptic about the push one you have, not enough horse power and you have to constantly be moving at fast pace, not practical for difficult to reach areas :P you'd probably have to RUN to get similar HP to a gas/electrical one.

I ordered from Walmart but it is also at Amazon.
Great States 304-14 14-Inch, 5-Blade Push Reel Lawn Mower.
The biggest complaint seems to be the handle.
The second biggest complaint is the twigs stop it and having
to rake the yard first.

There is a video review on Amazon, several pages over in the
customer reviews. Might be on youtube, have not looked.

Yep, lots of reasons I did not choose an electric mower.

scientists in the previous year predicted that El nino has receded and there would be normal climate. According to my view predictions are not accurate., everything in the hands of divine power for those who believe in that power. Anyway there is no doubt that such phenomena arise due to the bad activities of humans

I like the push mower. I mowed my entire yard and I could push it one handed at times.
I did have to go over areas where the grass was taller, but now that it is cut, it should be
very simple to keep it that way by mowing it once a week. Really good exercise too!

There is a lot to blame 'Man'/human beings. If there is a strip of land available, we have to tear down the trees and put up concrete buildings. After the building is done, we have to create parking. If it's office space, mall etc, we cover the grown with lots of concrete or asphalt. How is the rain water then absorbed? Sadly it's not, it has to run off somewhere, it can't be absorbed into concrete or asphalt.

Developers also create housing developments with homes so close you can spit in your neighbors window; hypothetically. It's taking acreage from Mother Nature and crowding the earth, again for greed.

It's call 'greed' and it screws our great 'Mother Nature'.

Where about you talking friend as i am knowing or in my knowledge nowhere temperature is such high as 42 degrees, it only could be in may middle or last every year not now. We humans are all the problem creators related to climate changes, first we create and then ask for the solution, who said us to use freezes, ACs, Open big factories & industries etc. that are directly effects the atmosphere and Ozone layer of earth. This is all about the result of so called development that is happening all around the world.
