While some people have received some surprise tax bills when filing their returns, corporations continue to avoid paying tax — thanks to a cocktail of tax credits, loopholes, and exemptions.
According to a report from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy Amazon will pay nothing in federal income taxes for the second year in a row.

Thanks to the new Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), Amazon’s federal tax responsibility is 21% (down from 35% in previous years). But with the help of tax breaks, according to corporate filings, Amazon won’t be paying a dime to Uncle Sam despite posting more than $11.2 billion in profits in 2018.

Correct, this is why the poor are expected to pay taxes and not the wealthy, try to mind read who I have in mind other than Amazon (hint: person)

And then you have the IRS going after the poor worker who was off in his/her tax report by $5.25, by seizing the home, bank accounts, land and a couple of organs - Exemptions and credits is a good initiative, even regular tax payers have that - but still have to pay taxes. It would be nice if the wealthy were required to pay minimum taxes even after all credits, exemptions and loopholes applied with those colossal earnings, it's the least they can do to contribute, why is it that always the poor people have to contribute !!! This big corporations have enough money to survive lifetimes, they can "donate" some to the greedy government's pockets

Even lottery winnings re taxable in the US, when already lottery is funded by those who purchase tickets, so essentially lottery is one massive ponzi scheme, and government earns big money on lotteries as it is sort of a hidden tax, and on top of your winnings you have to pay almost 40% !!! At least here in Canada, lottery, casino and contest prizes are non taxable, only the interest on the capital is.

Yet in this country, if you are lucky enough to have a decent job, you will be "donating" more than HALF your earnings to the government!

21% LOL here with those earnings you'd pay more than double that, even the poor with earnings in the poverty range have to pay some taxes, I believe the lowest bracket here being 19% But our Prime Minister here is more concerned in legalizing drugs, (a hidden tax), and adding a carbon tax (another hidden tax) than economy, jobs, healthcare and the middle class, crime, poverty, etc.

My opinion is entirely biased here, I will gladly send my donations to Amazon, no need to send 5 cents I will send it on your behalf and will send $5 in addition, 11 billion might not be enough, they have to be ready for the great depression to come and post apocalyptic WWIII, where that $11 billion will be worth, oh, say only $1 billion

Jeff bezos is a poor man, What would you do if you thought you would win $500.000.000 but a mistake caused that you only received $480.000.000, Imagine the horrors you would have to go through (Terrible thought).

I would wish for the US that both republicans and democrats would stick more together and divert their attention on how politics are run, In the end of the day it dosn't matter who's the president and who's not (Make those companies accountable for paying their rightfull tax)

Nike : Nothing (They are good at running from the bill)



At least Microsoft are paying their rightful amount in tax, But only after several cases in supremecourt.

About one-third of large companies have failed to pay tax, even though they made a gross profit, but the Tax Office says most have good reasons, according to the latest corporate tax transparency report released today.
