I'll comment by first saying, statistics are not always as they appear to be.
However, there is no doubt that an increase of the unemployed has taken place over the years.
I believe there is many contributing factors to that.
For starters, America has been losing it's factories for many years. I'll give an example since I am
56 years old and grew up by Chicago in the Indiana suburbs. Take a well know industrial city such
as Gary, Indiana. Do a search online for it and it is not much more than a ghost town today. Back
when I can remember and lived up there (in the 1960's), Gary was a booming town. It was full
of steel factories. In fact, my father worked at a factory called 'Inland Steel' at one time many
years ago. The point I am making is, America did not lose it's manufacturing over night. It's been
going over seas for years. Bit by bit, town by town, we've lost our factories to other countries.
Who is the blame for that? I don't think that it can be entirely laid onto our government but sure
they have a lot to do with it in regards to taxation. People keep wanting more and more. Pay
scales going up and up. But who wins with that? The pay scale increases, groceries increase,
gas increase, medical increase, housing increase...and it goes round and round with the only
winners being in the corporate ladders.
Another thing I believe that has hurt us is education. There's a lot of crap going on in our
school systems today. The education system is not always leading our children in the right
direction or preparing them for the new job demands of today. And of course, many children
can't afford college. So here we have another vicious circle. Kids not going to college, entering
the unskilled work force, which is resulting in longer lines at the welfare office.
There is something else called 'the baby boomers'. I guess you could say, I am one. But it
does go before me as the baby boomers are now either just entering retirement of almost
ready to retire. This is resulting in a lot of hardship on the old medicare system. Not to mention,
the higher prices and the older adult, working longer now if he/she can.
There is probably a larger work force out there doing what I would call 'side jobs' or simply put,
jobs that pay cash and do not hold out tax's. Since Americans are getting tax'd left and right,
it's no wonder only about 50% of Americans pay their tax's. Then take a look at all the wealthy
that are scheming and not paying their tax's or not paying as much as they should.
Then there is the 'nickel dime ya to death' syndrome taking place in this country. It is a killer.
Every time you pull a bill from your mailbox, you're sure to see an increase on it. Just recently,
my home landline phone, went up $10 per month. Something about tax, is all I know. Heck,
I rarely even use my home phone. When I bought my property/home here about 8 years ago,
my weekly trash pick up was $8.50 a month. It does not matter if I have trash to sit out for
pick up weekly or not, I still have to pay that bill. Today, my monthly trash bill is $17.50.
You do the math on that! $8.50 eight years ago, $17.50 now.
Every time we walk into a grocery store, we can see increased prices. It's rising way too fast.
I cannot for the life of me, figure out how a young family or an old family for that matter, makes
it. Take the elderly, on a fixed retirement income, all their money goes for medicine and doctor
bills. Take a family that has 2, 3, 4 or more children with both parents working at normal,
average paying jobs. How the heck do those families survive?
The housing crash has resulted in high rent. With more people out of their homes and looking
for a place to rent, it's tougher for them and to beat all, greedy people charging higher rent prices.
Then look at who we have as president? And then look at who we having running for president?
Ya got to be kidding me! Does America not have any one better than that? And it's not about
color altho people like to holler racist. The president is half white and half black and the guy
that's running against him, I guess is white, last time I looked anyway.
A little old black lady said on a show I watched last night....
"My father taught us there is no race except for the human race."
Few words that make so much sense but people still just don't get it. They are too busy being
greedy and focusing on putting others down to make themselves feel better or smart or some
such ignorance as that.
All I can tell you is, best buy a bunch of vegi seeds while you can still buy them.
I'd like to have some of those cookies since they are delicious. Nothing like delicious cookies with a glass of
milk. Unless of course one is trying to lose weight. If one is trying to lose weight, better to not eat the cookies
and instead, wash the dirty socks.
