1. Yes. I hear about it every day. It's almost impossible not to hear about it.

2. I don't receive the newspaper any more. They kept throwing it way down the hill.  I hear about it mainly on tv but also do read some online.

3. Politicians are all liars. They all say they are going to do this and that but when and if they get into the office they are running for, everything seems to miraculously change. They suddenly have amnesia. Everyone seems to be greedy and I have a difficult time understanding that. Because all of them already have more money than what you or I will ever see. I mean, how much money does a person really need? It seems the good guys rarely run if ever. I'd liked to have seen Huckabee and Chris Christy in there. Either one of those would have been greater than what's in the running now. I think Chris Christie would make an excellent president....maybe better than Huckabee. Gingrich is a big liar. I also think Gingrich is all about power and his wife is all about money. Unfortunately, there is not anyone in the running that I support.

Blood Type - What does yours mean? » Post #4

It's really interesting to research.

For example did you know that 'Blackfoot' Indians, their population is over 80% A blood type.
Whereas Navajo Indians are about 75% O blood type.

Since I have a lot of Indian in me, I can come more to deducing that I may be of Navajo decent.

Hope for O+ (positive)

The good thing about having O- (negative) is that if I ever become poor, I can sell my blood...almost every hospital in the nation would buy it.

Yes and that has been quite some years ago.

I remember being the first of a few, to see the first blood transport back into the body.
Not sure if it is common place today or not. I can't really explain it but will as simplified
as I can.

The way that works is, while in surgery, your blood loss is collected.
After surgery, your blood is returned back to you.

In the old days, and probably is the case often due to the circumstance and hospital,
when you lose blood in surgery, that was it. If you needed blood, they gave you blood.
But they did not return the blood you lost. The blood you lost was just washed away.

That was a rather interesting procedure to see.

You should know your blood type and if you don't, find out.

For example, I am RHo- and this means the only blood I can receive is RHo-
Mostly, RHo- blood is considered the universal donor.
In other words, my blood is always in high demand.
This is because people with my blood type, can only receive my blood type, and people not of my blood type, can receive my blood type if their blood type is not available.

Another thing about RHo- people is that women that have children, must have what we use to call RhoGam shot after each birth. I think they may call it something other than RhoGam today. I have 3 RhoGam cards that I keep in my handbag. Because I have had 3 children and had a RhoGam shot after each birth. This is because their positive blood cells is released into my negative blood cells upon birth. Of course, if you are a woman that has this blood type, has a miscarriage, you would need the shot also.

Only 7% of the entire world population has RHo- blood type.

Some more interesting facts about blood type...

About 40% of the world population has 0+ blood type.
About 33% of the world population has A+ blood type.
The rarest blood type is AB- and less than 1% of the world population has this blood type.

In China, over 99% of their population is 0+

And here is a fun bit of info that I found on a site:

Legend has it that ...

Type A is calm and trustworthy;
Type B is creative and excitable;
Type AB is thoughtful and emotional;
Type O is a confident leader

In Japan, the idea of blood type as personality type is so popular that Japanese ask “What's your blood type?” about as often as Americans ask “What's your sun sign?”

I've never been called to donate bone marrow but I am in the national database...been in there for about....20 years!
Or, maybe longer than 20 years. A long time.

I also donate blood. My blood is always in need but unfortunately, I am the type of blood that if I needed it,
would not be as easy.

At the hospital where I use to work for years, I had my own blood bank. I'd donate my own blood, to myself.
That way, if I was ever in the need of it, I would receive my own blood from my blood bank. This was an
employee benefit. Fortunately, I never needed it.

Report system is NOT a communication system » Post #7

Mon Jan 23, 2012 14:03 in Your Stats

Well, not sure we have noticed an issue with someone posting a quote using the report button.

What we do find often is members clicking the 'report' button thinking it is a way to communicate
directly to that particular member's posting. Not real sure why that is.

A member might post their payout and the next thing you know, someone has reported it and their
reported comment is 'good payout'.

When one uses the report button, it is to report the member for foul language, advertising, links,
or some such as that, that goes against the forums rules.

I think maybe it should be two word 'Report Abuse'. Something like that.

It would be nice that when we were born, some things such as our bone marrow would go into a national database.
That way, if the time arrived that you came up as a match, you could be notified and make the decision to give.

I think some day, that may be possible.

For now, it's a very huge and constant struggle to locate a match for people needing bone marrow transplants.

I hope they find a match for her.
