Good antivirus software
what about Avast Antivirus?
AVIRA was my favourite and great at the time, when it was run by the original company in Germany. All you did was install their Anti Virus Pro, the interface was excellent, and lots of options to choose from, you had full control on what happens if detection occurs. Apparently in 2020 they were acquired by a US company, since then, company went downhill - the started FORCING people to download an entire security suite, they discontinued the stand alone anti virus pro - you were forced to download the entire security suite, you were forced to download all kinds of extra CRAP even if you don't use it, and MANY of the custom options were removed, now when there is detection it is AVIRA that decides what to do, you are not given an option anymore to just deny access/block or ignore, no everything goes right to quarantine or even gets deleted !!! It also FORCES you to run system scans on schedule even when not a single bloody file has changed on your bloody computer - never increase the price of software and REMOVE features. I am usually very loyal and stick to a brand, but I've had it. I did the same with F-PROT at the time. and Norton.......and McCafee..........let's see how long I last on Bitdefender, which is so far great. and no relying on Microsoft's anti virus built into windows, not good enough, it does a better job than it used to, but detection of virus and malware are not as high as other AV.
After doing research I found that Bitdefender has earned perfect and near perfect scores across the board and does not slow down PC like many other.
The only thing to be careful - many AV suites include VPN, you have to be careful never to use VPN services, I believe bitdefender also has a free limited VPN included in the anti-virus, this must always remain off
