GT Distractions -- Completely Firefox'd » Post #3

:geek: It has been hours after the update of v14.0.1 -- yet the memory consumption is still hovering between 450mb-490mb ( compared to 700-825mb on v13.0.1 )

And that's after checking Tumblr sites ( high image contents ), more Youtube videos and blogs!

 To see that the Flash plug-ins really disappear, after you check a Youtube video, close the tab the video is placed, open a blank tab and pull up the Task Manager screen -- in a few minutes, the Flash plug-in processes really disappear!

Guess you've seen the updates, and a few have already updated their browser -- yup, it's now v14.0.1

Now the fun begins, testing it out:

Believe it or not, if you open your Task manager ( that's Shift+CTRL+Esc on your keypads ) the memory looks very nice to start with -- on v13.0.1 I'd be getting roughly 500-600mb reading off my memory ( no video or flash running in the other tabs )

But now -- even with a couple of Youtube channel up, 4 Blogs opened, the main Yahoo news page, I'm grabbing roughly 400-435mb consumption on memory! ( yes, I know the Flash plug-ins are now running at roughly 20-35mb, but it disappears once the video's done -- the old v13.0.1 retained the Flash Plug-ins, thus a wasteful 12-25mb in the memory in my opinion )

How about here? Believe it or not, noticed a faster transition of the pages -- very fast! Just got an ad -- before, there'd be a quick few seconds ( 2-3seconds ) lag before the "click the Cat" image message appears -- now, not anymore! Refreshing pages even feel better.

How about the Task windows? Clicking the links to open the pages to find the data needed is smooth and crisp, no lagging :D I love this browser when clicking for ads

Tested it out on the Games section -- loading a game ( tried a couple ) is better and smooth -- and like when I noticed the Youtube behavior, after a few minutes after closing the game, the Flash plug-ins disappear! Yes, this new version of Firefox seemed to have cleared that annoying issue of memory mismanagement

Now, it's even more compatible for Mac users

What does $10.00 buy you in your country? » Post #23

*Challenge Accepted!*

From what I know, in Pagasinan ( close to Baguio City ) you can get a lot area of 1 hectare for Php 0.15-20M ( roughly $10-12k -- though I wish another Filipino would validate the price of land today, prices may be changing )

So for $125k, you'd be able to get a pretty expensive lot in the Makati business area ( The Fort ), or a well-build home in Cebu, or a pretty good farm in Pangasinan or Cagayan de Oro :D

What ?! Those things here are like 8.00$ each ?!

If one goes to places like in Divisoria ( Manila ) -- you can get nearly anything there at very low prices ( since the majority of malls in the Metro would get their stocks from Manila )

Another place to try bargain hunting would be at Greenhills San Juan

A pair of shoes ( rubber ) for roughly $2.25 ( Php 150 ), jeans at $3.50 ( Php150-215 ), and assorted groceries for the remained of the $10

Unless you buy frequently from a stall owner in the market ( which is locally known as "suki" ) you'd be able to get a good bargain price from the items you buy from his/her stall compared to others ;)

( There'll be times the shop owner would also give you some of his/her wares for free when their sales are good  )

$10? -- let's see, that's enough for me to buy:

1 - 3/4 sack of rice ( roughly 10-15 kilos )

2 - or 7 whole dressed chickens ( quartered )

3 - or 28-30 packets of instant noodles ( soup or the 'pancit' variety )

4 - or 1/2 case of beer

5 - or 15 plain or colored shirts / shorts ( there are bargain sales where you can get shirts at 3 for a Php100 )

6 - or 15-25 canned goods ( assorted such as corned beef, sardines, milk, and so on )

7 - or 3-7 bottles of multivitamins ( branded and generics respectively )
