Quote of the day » Post #2510

Tue Mar 08, 2016 05:32 in General Talk

 Here's my semi-obligatory double quoting for this month:

"Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live."
-- Norman Cousins

"Our trials, our sorrows, and our grieves develop us."
-- Orison Swett Marden

I don't know... I've already sold my soul doing online opportunities -- and I'd admit: it's a very profitable one

:?: Strange, I'm not having that kind of browser behavior on my end

Best get some anti-malware programs; download and install MBAM, update its database after installing, then do a Threat Scan ( which can run between 15-40mins, depending on what it'll find ) -- if it does find any, quarantine the items, and prompt to a reboot, the repeat Full Scan to flush out any leftovers ( this would take between an hour to two, depending on what it'll find )

 Sidenote: Make sure if you do install MBAM, go to it's Settings menu, and under Detection and Protection that there's a checkmark on Scan for Rootkits and Scan within Archives; also under the General Settings that the Explorer context menu entry is set to Yes so you can scan any file using the right-click on your mouse/trackpad

It'll also help to manually check all your programs if they're up-to-date; an outdated program is prone to any infection these days

Murder Or Suicide?? » Post #12

Murder or suicide? Neither -- she was a 'klutz' -- slipped ( missing slipper ), head hit the wall hard, unknowingly got a gun hidden behind the trashcan and accidentally unplugged the lamp

( Now, the better question is: How will the person who'll solve this puzzle, be able to redeem a 100 Marks? ;) )

Napansin ba ninyo? Pag nakapag-click na kayo ng ads ( say, natapos mong ma-view ang ad, at nag-exit ka na ) -- pag na-credit na ang ad sa earnings mo, parang nag-sparkle ang user name tab mo ng ilang segundo?

Ayos sya!

Forbes 2016: Richest 20 billionaires in the world » Post #6

Nikorj wrote: Thanks Oberder, i use that site regularly.

But it don't seem like them,Having malware on their sites.

Guess it's better to be safe than sorry ;) Some ads from some sites tend to be more "in-your-face" and overbearing; and considering that some news sites just copy-paste articles ( yup, a few would notice this easily ) there's a good chance to find the same article from Forbes somewhere else

 EDIT 1: Just make sure that your defenses ( Anti-Virus / Anti-Malware / Anti-Spyware programs ) and your browser ( security plug-ins / add-ons ) are up-to-date and reliable whenever surfing on the Web -- who knows what's out there

EDIT 2: It's not Forbes' fault as a whole -- one should consider blame to the advertisers they show on their site -- we know that when an ad gets approved, an advertiser may 'make some last-minute changes'... til then, guess my EDIT 1 would be a a good starting advice, and Forbes be a bit more 'picky' when choosing their advertisers

Just my two-cents here ( not related to the list of millionaires )

 If anyone plans to go to Forbes, do make sure you do have a very decent AdBlocker

It's been reported long ago on most tech blogs reviewed Forbes -- after scaling messages onto viewers to turn off their AdBockers ( if they have any installed ) to view their articles, which if they do -- will be served with ads that serve as malware platforms for user infections

Users are better off investing time to defend themselves, or find a safer news site ;)

Strange, I have no problem when I checked -- was able to log in just fine

Check if your browser accepts Third-Party cookies, as much as that your JAVA has to be up-to-date -- as of this thread post, JAVA should be at v8u74, or commonly known as v8.0.740.2

 To check if your JAVA s up-to-date, try this Help Page: Verify Java Version

It would also help that you are able to clean your browser's cache and cookies
