Happy Mother's day Valerie and all mothers
The amount of sacrifices a mother makes in the name of her child are insurmountable. And what makes this even more amazing, is if you ask her, she would not say a single action was a sacrifice.

44 Countries in the world recognize Mother's day, and in the United States of America, today is the day we recognize it. I was very fortunate to be raised in a home with a very loving and caring mother, we were very poor throughout my childhood. I never had the latest toy or video game system, but I did have a very loving and supportive mother. The relationship with my mom built my life and who I am today, I owe her everything because she shaped who I am.

Her lessons were of motivation, and drive. She showed me through her actions that hard work and dedication really do pay off, but more importantly she taught me of human rights. She made it obvious her beliefs through words and actions, and it was clear to me at a young age that every person was deserving of equal freedom, happiness, and respect. Even when you disagree with the person, or they disagree with you, even those who try to verbally or physically hurt you. They are people like you, and just like how you don't deserve to be denied those rights, neither do they. As Nelson Mandela said "No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite." Everyone has that loving peaceful person inside of them who wants to treat you with respect, who wants you to reach for success and happiness, but it gets buried by negative life events. It is a choice you can make, you can either hate or speak hate words about/to people that are different from you, or don't agree with you. Or you can choose to allow them the rights of freedom, happiness, and respect that they deserve.

I also learned that actions speak louder than words, who you are and how you behave define who you are in others eyes, not what you say.

As James Brown sang "This a Man's world, but it would be nothing without a woman or a girl." Mom, you have raised me to be happy, respectful, and driven, the sacrifices you have made are nothing short of miraculous, there is nothing I can do in life that will ever be as remotely significant as the role you have played in mine. Someone to talk to, to joke with, to love, and to have shown me what it is to be a happy, productive, successful person. Thank You. by John Bell Happy Mother's day

Personal Philosophy Is Like the Set of the Sail » Post #1

Mon May 07, 2012 20:07 in General Talk

May 8th. 2012
Personal Philosophy Is Like the Set of the Sail by Jim Rohn
In the process of living, the winds of circumstances blow on us all in
an unending flow that touches each of our lives.

We have all experienced the blowing winds of disappointment, despair
and heartbreak. Why, then, would each of us, in our own individual
ship of life, all beginning at the same point, with the same intended
destination in mind, arrive at such different places at the end of the
journey? Have we not all been blown by the winds of circumstances and
buffeted by the turbulent storms of discontent?

What guides us to different destinations in life is determined by the
way we have chosen to set our sail. The way that each of us thinks
makes the major difference in where each of us arrives. The major
difference is the set of the sail.

The same circumstances happen to us all. We have disappointments and
challenges. We all have reversals and those moments when, in spite of
our best plans and efforts, things just seem to fall apart.
Challenging circumstances are not events reserved for the poor, the
uneducated or the destitute. The rich and the poor have marital
problems. The rich and the poor have the same challenges that can lead
to financial ruin and personal despair. In the final analysis, it is
not what happens that determines the quality of our lives; it is what
we choose to do when we have struggled to set the sail and then
discover, after all of our efforts, that the wind has changed
directions.

When the winds change, we must change. We must struggle to our feet
once more and reset the sail in the manner that will steer us toward
the destination of our own deliberate choosing. The set of the sail,
how we think and how we respond, has a far greater capacity to destroy
our lives than any challenges we face. How quickly and responsibly we
react to adversity is far more important than the adversity itself.
Once we discipline ourselves to understand this, we will finally and
willingly conclude that the great challenge of life is to control the
process of our thinking.

Learning to reset the sail with the changing winds rather than
permitting ourselves to be blown in directions we did not purposely
choose requires the development of a whole new discipline. It involves
going to work on establishing a powerful, personal philosophy that
will help to influence in a positive way all that we do, think and
decide. If we can succeed in this worthy endeavor, the result will be
a change in the course of our income, lifestyle and relationships, and
in how we feel about the things of value as well as the times of
challenge. If we can alter the way we perceive, judge and decide upon
the main issues of life, then we can dramatically change our lives.

Testimonials & Comments from Clients, Doctors and Fans

“I would like to speak out in support of Naked Therapy as a new and exciting form of talk therapy. Sarah White and I have a client in common and while I worked with him for over five years with various cocktails of prescriptions and therapy methods, he has made significant improvements with her over the course of a few sessions and the improvements have continued over the past couple months. His energy has increased, he is overcoming bad habits, and he is excited about life again. Naked Therapy can be a helpful addition to conventional treatments. I encourage people to open their minds to this new method, and urge anyone interested in talking openly and honestly about themselves via the power of arousal to give Naked Therapy a try.” – Alan S. Liu, MD Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry

This woman should get the Nobel Peace Prize.

Your writing, your ideas, your bravery are gorgeous! I am so moved by what you do and how you are doing it. You are providing a therapy men are in desperate need of. And of course, I am one of them.

As a trained therapist and a university professor who is involved in research I was interested in your unique approach. I also feel that traditional methods of therapy are mainly ineffective and a waste of most people’s time and money. I would encourage you to evaluate your approach which would give it authenticity. If you would like to collaborate on this, please let me know.

What a whole lot of healing naked therapy does in this world of hurt we face.

I really like how you exhibit your sensuality. You do it without losing your humanity and I think is really powerful. Perhaps it is just evidence of our cultures tendency to treat women as objects; women are sexy but their bodies are only one part of it sometimes I wonder how to make that clear to women in the right way.

Censored from the West Chelsea Artists Open Studios, Sarah White, The
Naked Therapist, Announces Her Own Open Studio in Protest of the
Blacklisting for May 13, 2012.

The art world, long the object of censorship, is now censoring
artists. In a clear case of anti-woman, anti-naked, and anti-artist
prejudice, West Chelsea Artists Open Studios (WCAOS), perhaps one of
the world's most important open studio events, initially accepted
Sarah White as a photographer/performance artist on April 19, but then
censored and banned her on May 1. The censoring came when Ms. White
tried to identify herself as The Naked Therapist and submitted a
feature image. She was then removed from the event via email because
she was a "commercial entity" and "not an artist" and the image was an
"ad," not "art." The censored image, and her response, can be found at

To protest the blacklisting, Ms. White will hold her own Open Studio
at The Hôtel Americano in Chelsea from 4-8pm on May 13, 2012 (the last
day of the WCAOS) to show her work and let the public decide if it's
art and to take part in an open dialogue on censorship, commercialism
vs. art, and the professional segregation of women who utilize the
performative body to engage arousal.

According to Ms. White, "I have been creating photographic art about
sexuality, Americana, and the forbidden for over a decade, for the
last two years I've been making art influenced by my Naked Therapy
practice, and I've recently begun investigating performance art
therapy. So I'm an artist and I'm The Naked Therapist. But when I
tried to identify myself as such, the Open Studios became not so
'open,' and I was censored and banned. Apparently if a woman uses her
body in any way other than what the art world considers 'acceptable'
she is ostracized. Given my established artistic portfolio, I find it
insulting and quite troubling that an event that is 'open to all West
Chelsea artists' feels it has the right to say that I am not an
artist."

Ms. White also feels that "this raises some very interesting questions
about contradictions in the art world when it comes to how
commercialism, the Internet and performance are involved in art and
what one has to do to have the 'right' to call oneself an artist. If
Damien Hirst put TheRichestArtist.org on an orange field it would sell
AS ART for millions at Sotheby's because it would be taken as a
profound comment on the money-obsessed art culture, yet when I place a
url on my image I'm told I've made an ad and not art. Further, my art
is very informed by the Internet, by performance art, and by
commerce-based models of artistic identity, and the established art
world often has a big problem with these elements. If you do not take
the traditional route to gaining the 'right to call yourself an artist
- an MFA, lots of Gallery climbing, and an almost nun-like devotion to
keeping your 'art' pure from the evils of 'commerce' (while also doing
your best to sell your works for as high a price as they'll command) -
then you're not considered an 'artist.' I find that a ridiculous and
completely outdated position to be taking in the 21st century when the
Internet has given everyone the most democratic, flexible artistic
arena ever invented and so many people are simply trying to take
advantage of this new opportunity."

This is not the first time Ms. White has been hypocritically banished
from assumed bastions of freedom. Facebook deleted her profile and fan
page (which contained no nudity) without explanation, yet Playboy has
a Facebook page that links to naked images. She's been told by various
psychology professionals that she cannot be admitted to a Masters
program or obtain licensing because her methods potentially breach the
American Counseling Association's Code of Ethics (even though Naked
Therapy involves no sexual contact). And HuffPost has said it won't
publish her articles until she has a graduate degree, yet publishes
others without that qualification.

Despite this, many professionals have shown support. For example, in
March 2012 she headlined a SXSW panel hosted by Dr. John Grohol
(PsychCentral) called "Online Therapy...Naked?". And this recent
act of censorship has only emboldened Ms. White: "I practice Naked
Therapy to help my clients and to investigate arousal in the
therapeutic context. I make art to express my creative voice. And I'll
continue to do these things, accepted or not, because I think they're
vital to freedom and wellness in our world."

Bali to host Miss World Pageant 2013 » Post #1

The recent visit to Bali by Miss World 2011, Ivian Sarcos, permitted the 22-year-old Venezuelan beauty the chance to tour the island and pay a courtesy call on Bali’s governor Made Mangku Pastika.

During her visit with Bali’s chief executive, Sarcos told governor Pastika of the desire of the Miss World organizer’s desire to hold the 2013 Miss World competition in Bali.

Joining the meeting was Julia Morley, co-chair of the Miss World Organization, who explained to the governor that Bali was chose because of its success in hosting many international events.

The event will take place in Bali in September of 2013 and use a number of locations around the island as settings for the competition, which is televised internationally.

Following the meeting, governor Pastika said 2013 was shaping up to become a busy year of events in Bali. Pastika pointed to the provincial elections, the Bali Arts Festival, a Development Exhibitions, the APEC Summit and, now, the Miss World 2013 competition.

The governor while meeting with the reigning Miss World asked that in holding the event in Bali “local wisdom” and “local values” be respected. Pastika hopes equal emphasis would be placed on intelligence and not just physical beauty.

THURSDAY APRIL 26TH 2012

Up to 12 tons of radioactive water containing strontium-90 leaked out of the stricken Fukushima nuclear power plant into the sea, Japan Today quoted Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) officials as saying last Thursday. The water was believed to have leaked out for about two hours before it was stopped.

The presence strontium-90 in human body can cause bone cancer, cancer of nearby tissues and leukemia. Last November, radioactive strontium was found in soil in three locations in Tokyo, peaking at 51 becquerels per kilogram. In December, about 150 liters of waste water containing strontium flowed into the sea.

Contarminated seawater resulting from radioactive leakages and oil spills from recent memories may have played a role in sea animals committing suicide everyday.

But today’s radioactive leakage story represents only a fraction of the latest shocking news.

According to Prison Planet, diplomat Akio Matsumura warned of a disaster in waiting at the Fukushima nuclear plant that could ultimately turn into global catastrophe like never before experienced.

Matsumura cited on his website the statement made by Mitsuhei Murata, former Japan Ambassador to Switzerland, regarding the situation at Fukushima. Speaking at the Public Hearing of the Budgetary Committee of the House of Councilors, Ambassidor Murata said “if the crippled building of reactor unit 4-with 1,535 fuel rods in the spent fuel pool 100 feet (30 meters) above the ground-collapses, not only will it cause a shutdown of all six reactors but will also affect the common spent fuel pool containing 6,375 fuel rods, located some 50 meters from reactor 4.”

Matsumura was told by Mr. Robert Alvarez, top US spent-fuel pools expert, that “The No. 4 pool is about 100 feet above ground, is structurally damaged and is exposed to the open elements. If an earthquake or other event were to cause this pool to drain this could result in a catastrophic radiological fire involving nearly 10 times the amount of Cs-137 released by the Chernobyl accident.”

According to Ambassador Murata, there are a total of the spent fuel rods at the Fukushima Daiichi site 11,421. With regard to those fuel rods, Mr. Alvarez said:

“Based on U.S. Energy Department data, assuming a total of 11,138 spent fuel assemblies are being stored at the Dai-Ichi site, nearly all, which is in pools. They contain roughly 336 million curies (~1.2 E+19 Bq) of long-lived radioactivity. About 134 million curies is Cesium-137 – roughly 85 times the amount of Cs-137 released at the Chernobyl accident…”

Matsumura interpreted what “85 times more Cesium-137 than the Chernobyl” would mean. He said “it would destroy the world environment and our civilization. This is not rocket science, nor does it connect to the pugilistic debate over nuclear power plants. This is an issue of human survival.”

Sierra Meteor/Fireball ‘the size of a minivan’ Decoded
by thetruthbehindthescenes

meteor

Meteor / Fireball decoded.

On Sunday morning, April 22nd, just as the Lyrid meteor shower was dying down, a spectacular fireball exploded over California's Sierra Nevada mountain range. The loud explosion rattled homes from central California to Reno, Nevada, and beyond. According to Bill Cooke, head of NASA's Meteoroid Envronment Office, the source of the blast was a meteoroid about the size of a minivan.

"Elizabeth Silber at Western University has searched for infrasound signals from the explosion," says Cooke. "Infrasound is very low frequency sound which can travel great distances. There were strong signals at 2 stations, enabling a triangulation of the energy source at 37.6N, 120.5W. This is marked by a yellow flag in the map below."

"The energy is estimated at a whopping 3.8 kilotons of TNT, so this was a big event," he continues. "I am not saying there was a 3.8 kiloton explosion on the ground in California. I am saying that the meteor possessed this amount of energy before it broke apart in the atmosphere. [The map] shows the location of the atmospheric breakup, not impact with the ground."

"The fact that sonic booms were heard indicates that this meteor penetrated very low in atmosphere, which implies a speed less than 15 km/s (33,500 mph). Assuming this value for the speed, I get a mass for the meteor of around 70 metric tons. Hazarding a further guess at the density of 3 grams per cubic centimeter (solid rock), I calculate a size of about 3-4 meters, or about the size of a minivan."

"This meteor was probably not a Lyrid; without a trajectory, I cannot rule out a Lyrid origin, but I think it likely that it was a background or sporadic meteor."

Meteor/Fireball Caused Explosion Heard From Northern Nevada To Southern California – April 22, 2012
by thetruthbehindthescenes

Meteor

Meteor/Fireball.

A loud explosion heard across much of Nevada and California on Sunday morning rattled homes and prompted a flood of calls to law enforcement agencies on both sides of the Sierra Nevada, some reporting fireball sightings.

The sound and the light show were likely caused by a meteor that entered Earth's atmosphere, astronomers said.

Dan Ruby of the Fleischmann Planetarium at the University of Nevada, Reno, says the reports indicate the meteor broke up above Earth somewhere over the Sierra southwest of Reno.

No earthquakes were reported by USGS for that location and time. A meteor was indeed seen around the same time, but its fishy as to whether or not it is truly related to the persistent rumbling, which we hear an officer make mention of in this scanner audio.

The Honorable Charles Bolden, Jr.
NASA Administrator
NASA Headquarters
Washington, D.C. 20546-0001

Dear Charlie,

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that NASA and the Goddard
Institute for Space Studies (GISS) refrain from including unproven
remarks in public releases and websites. We believe the claims by NASA
and GISS, that man-made carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact
on global climate change are not substantiated, especially when
considering thousands of years of empirical data. With hundreds of
well-known climate scientists and tens of thousands of other
scientists publicly declaring their disbelief in the catastrophic
forecasts, coming particularly from the GISS leadership, it is clear
that the science is NOT settled.

The unbridled advocacy of CO2 being the major cause of climate change
is unbecoming of NASA's history of making an objective assessment of
all available scientific data prior to making decisions or public
statements. As former NASA employees, we feel that NASA's advocacy of
an extreme position, prior to a thorough study of the possible
overwhelming impact of natural climate drivers is inappropriate. We
request that NASA refrain from including unproven and unsupported
remarks in its future releases and websites on this subject. At risk
is damage to the exemplary reputation of NASA, NASA's current or
former scientists and employees, and even the reputation of science
itself.

For additional information regarding the science behind our concern,
we recommend that you contact Harrison Schmitt or Walter Cunningham,
or others they can recommend to you.

Thank you for considering this request.
