No, we waste our lives clicking ads for crappy binary options trading, completing tasks written by incompetent fools, and completing endless surveys that screen out after twenty minutes because we enjoy being taken advantage of. The money doesn't come into it, it's all about the sport.

Never had one of those, even as a teenager.

I do have IBS though, so I do get to shit the bed from time to time, so swings and roundabouts, I suppose.

Abbreviations - I actually hate them » Post #5

www is the worst.

Who invents an abbreviation that takes seven times longer to say than the thing it's an abbreviation for?

Anyone find some Black Friday / Cyber Deals? » Post #2

Sat Nov 26, 2016 07:24 in General Talk

I spent £40 and saved less than £1.

On the plus side, it was stuff I was going to buy anyway. I didn't have any of those great "making the purchasing decision for you" offers that the news implied we had last year. Which is a shame, because I didn't really want deals - I've got a christmas list high on adjectives, but low on nouns; I wanted someone to tell me what to buy.

I dreamt about hair last night. I dreamt I had even, well crafted braids.

I don't think it has anything to do with sexuality, it's probably more related to my ongoing dilemma about whether or not to grow dreadlocks.

Clixsense Email Swipe » Post #4

Oh, that swipe.

I thought she meant as in, swipe the emails from the page.

My idea of swipe is fine. Spamming your referrals is bad, don't do that, they'll hate you - and rightly so.

I've been thinking about this, and I'm going to knock up a social network for Clixsense members and stick it in the Clixgrid next week. It's got chat facilities and everything built in - we did this yonks ago. I need to make a few changes first for technical reasons relating to another project, but keep an eye out from Monday-ish.

Maybe, but it still breaches Article 3 of the human rights convention and/or the eighth amendment.

you know - somebody he's interested about enough to stalk, but not interested enough in to be able to cross that particular ethical boundary.

Thank you!

You shouldn't punish some poor innocent woman like that, especially at Christmas time.

Demonetization In India » Post #2

Well, it's a good move to help remove ill gotten gains from the economy, it's a start...but it's not going to fix your problems.

There's lots of corruption here too. To do something analogous, we could close the bank accounts of Google, Vodafone and Starbucks, removing their ill gotten gains from the economy - that does restore a tiny bit of equality, but doesn't suddenly build new homes for the homeless. That is, you can't create a decent standard of living for all by removing some money from the top.

You need serious investment in, well, everything, really.

A lot of that should be coming from us, since it's our historical empire that screwed you over in the first place, but most importantly, those of us in richer countries have to start paying more for cheap goods and services coming out of India (and many other countries). That's the only way to fix the actual problems at the bottom of the heap. There was a report a couple of years ago that suggested for shirts made in Bangladesh, the worker got 12c for a $15 shirt. Even if we doubled their wages, that's $15.12 for a shirt. I don't have figures for India, but it's not unreasonable to expect richer countries to pay more.

Basically, India's problem isn't so much the corruption, it's the rest of us taking advantage of you.

Well, grammar is the difference between knowing your shit, and knowing you're shit. Perhaps they're just confessing.

I try to punctuate the way I speak, rather than as I should punctuate in written text. I suppose I'm equally annoying - because I often run out of punctuation marks to use, long before I should have used any at all.

And the lack of a serial comma. Seriously, why does nobody other than me use a serial comma these days?

There are plenty of places that have quizzes you need to pass before you're allowed to post on the forum.

Like, the difference between your and you're, and the difference between there, they're and their. They do tend to be higher quality forums. Sometimes, they're unfair to non-native speakers, but that's easily solved with a checkbox for "English is my second language".

It's not so much the test that does it, it's the extra effort. The problems faced by communication platforms is rarely "everyone is stupid", and far more commonly "everyone is lazy". Adding a quick, simple test gives you a self-selecting community of people who will read the FAQ and search the forum first.

A woman isn't a real woman unless she could kill you quietly in your sleep.

If you can call her "yummie" and live, you can keep her.

Open the inspect tool on your browser, and look for things marked with a red or yellow X or !

Ignore the ones for Matomy, TrialPay, StumbledUpon and adhitz.

If there's something broken and it can be found by us (it's perfectly possible there's a callback that we can't see at all), then that's where it'll show up.

Anybody else having a problem with ads? » Post #7

It appears that the site is now actually checking that the ads are loaded before the video loads, and if the video doesn't load, the page doesn't load properly.

Several people have reported that the page is "clean" and clear of ads. It's not - it's riddled with ads. If you can't see loads of ads on the page, that's the problem. You need to see at least one. Check you're not blocking everything with scripts, addons, etc.

If that doesn't work, we don't get these ads here. I only get five or six a day at another site, and I've used them all up getting this far, so somebody else will have to figure out what the problem is.
