Is it okay to kill every human in the world? » Post #1

Fri Sep 16, 2016 10:03 in General Talk

I recently discovered my kid is secretly addicted to energy drinks, so I've quit caffeine to set a good example.

So now I'm nicotine free, and caffeine free.

Is it okay to kill every human in the world, or is this one of those times I shouldn't listen to my heart?

It's Richard Grey if instead of committing suicide/being killed he'd built an exoskeleton.

Interesting Fact: (Well, dull fact, but there's not much else going on in the forum...)

If there was a limit, it would probably be 4,294,967,295. Each ad probably has it's own row, so it's limited by the storage space/RAM available in the server cluster, but if an adverts ID is also used as a key, the maximum unsigned value can be 4,294,967,295 so it might be that. If that value is hit, one could update the key type to BIGINT which would give a maximum of 18,446,744,073,709,551,615, but nobody has ever started a website and thought "You know what, I'm going to have 18,446,744,073,709,551,615 of anything", so that'd come later.

God, the forum is crap today, somebody do something interesting so I don't have to carry on with crap like this.

Not so much here, because "write properly, you idiots" is one of the forum rules, but generally speaking, most English speakers do, in fact, speak Dutch. Double Dutch, to be precise.

I don't think a country is a sensible thing to be proud of. I do think it's perfectly sensible to be proud of being part of a subculture - though perhaps proud is the wrong word.

Never ask a man if he's from Yorkshire. If he isn't, you'll embarrass him. If he is, he'll have already told you.

I happen to be a stereotypical Yorkshireman, so a sense of national and personal pride happen to be the same thing for me...but it is about subculture. Just because you're born in Yorkshire doesn't mean I consider you a Yorkshireman, and on the other side, there are plenty of people born outside of Yorkshire I happily consider honorary Yorkshiremen.

In fact, over recent years, I've been calling myself a Yorkshireman less and less, and calling myself a Dane instead, because the subculture that's important to me are the traditions passed down from our Danish Viking ancestors. The heathen traditions, the Old Norse dialect, the Havamal based outlook on life. Which shows the fluidity. I might say I'm proud to be from Yorkshire, but that's not what I really mean - the thing I'm proud of is much more specific.

With the economy the way it is, the next generation is leaving school and going straight into retirement anyway.

We've got loads, but the weirdest one is a reenactment of the Battle of Ethandun.

This is weird, because it's independence day in backwards land - that's the day we lost independence...and Ethandun (modern day Edington) isn't even here, it's in Wiltshire, way, way, way down South.

Quote:The only people that talk proper English is the British.

Not true. Germans, Danes, the Dutch, Norwegians and Swedes tend to speak proper English. The English are almost as cruel to English as Americans are.

Have you tried phoning the White House and asking about your money?

I mean, the actual White House, not them pretending to be the White House.

If not, please do, and remember to record the call.

I'm the opposite way round. I'm entitled to an Eastern European pension by the time I'm 65, I think it is. I won't be entitled to a UK pension until I'm nearly 80.

hiding forum's user rating was a bad step. » Post #5

Ratings without a link to your personal contacts are only good for one thing: "Is this guy a dick, or have I actually done something wrong?"

Most of the time, you've done something wrong - most of the time, when somebody is a dick to you, the thing you've done wrong is not read the twenty seven identical threads to yours immediately beneath, you didn't read the first topic on the first page, nevermind search the forum - but without the ratings, there's no way to know if you've done something wrong, or if you've just encountered a dick.

We - or more specifically, new members - need to know who is a dick, the ratings shouldn't have been removed.

Ah, sorry - you've been found guilty of sounding like hundreds of identical threads over the last few weeks, but actually have a legitimate question.

Yes, there are problems with the SSL at the moment. I'm not sure why you're getting any SSL pages. There's never been SSL on the ads at all as far as I'm aware, and I'm not getting it on the edit profile page or login screens where we used to have it.

So yes, that's a problem, you're not alone with the problem. Something is definitely wrong there, and it's not your fault, but nobody knows what is wrong, except admin. I didn't want to open a ticket - I'm sure they're already aware.
