my last payment and a farewell » Post #5

Quote:enough is enough specially when we also have internet restriction in denmark.

In fairness, that's more down to Guthrum and Rollo than Clixsense. A true Dane would never restrict the internet - when the traitor kings turned their backs on us, that's when we lost. It might have taken a millenium or so, but it was they who set these events in motion.

I'm not sure that's really something within the control of a rewards site.

The problem with Bitcoin is once it fails - and it will, because it's fundamentally flawed on a technical level, it just doesn't scale - that's the end of cryptocurrencies forever. If it wasn't for that, I'd keep my mouth shut and just roll my eyes.

Anyway, short of a real decentralised currency that scales, and can be, you know, decentralised, what we probably need is a world wide version of SEPA. SWPA doesn't have a ring to it, so somebody think up an alternative to the W, and then start nagging your banks for Single Worldwide Payment Area.

Ian Murdoch, the most important man in technology you've never heard of died today.

Inventor of the Debian Linux Distribution - which, at a first approximation, runs the internet(*), your car, your phone, and your TV - he personally helped me write the driver for my first ever Winmodem (albeit, via the mailinglist, not in person), and get connected to the internet proper for the first time.

Code: Select All
dig grave.com
apt-get install ian-murdoch

(*)Technically, powers 11% of the internet, but look at the family tree.

Little websites on the internet
Little websites made of bootcrappy
Little websites on the internet
Little websites all the same
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one,
And they're all made out of bootcrappy
And they all look just the same.

Sadly, since about 2008, it's all but impossible to build a website that isn't a bootstrap piece of crap without putting up with a ridiculous amount of whinging, so dial up users, and anybody with any aesthetic sense lose out.

Ironically, if mobile users hadn't whinged so much that they absolutely must have a website created with the bloatiest piece of crap ever to stain the internet, they'd never get close to their data caps each month.

And don't even get me started on FontAwesome, that doesn't even work with even the main four browsers/

[Insert profanity here - you've got no idea how much self control it took to censor it from my post]

Tasks were great about three years ago, then there was a race to the bottom. Rates dropped, and everyone sulked, but did them anyway. Tragedy of the commons. If they'd just collectively refused to work for sod all, they'd have still have decent rates. That's also what killed paid to read sites - nobody had the self-respect to say "You're taking the piss, right? You don't seriously expect me to click links for one hundredth of a cent, do you?"

Well, I just one ten cents, so the secret of Clixgrid must be posting in anti-Clixgrid threads.

It was supposed to demonstrate how easily fooled we, as a species, are by probability.

Probability just doesn't work as we intuitively think it does. Improbable things happen all the time, and very probable things often fail to happen.

You can't judge the probability of winning on Clixgrid over the course of a few weeks, your results will only average out over the long term. Until you reach tens of thousands of clicks, your results will be swingy - one run of either good or bad luck will skew your results dramatically until you have a large range to average them out - that's why in the other thread I suggest aggregating the stats shared by the entire community to find your expected long term value.

I'll be honest, for the first couple of years, I'd have agreed with you - but as I said above, you can do the maths yourself. Lots of people have posted their stats, all you have to do is aggregate them.

On paper, the best advantage to upgrading is the increased earnings for referrals, but in reality, the best advantage is the boost to your own earnings.

You get four guaranteed ads a day. If you click them every day, that's $14.60 a year, which leaves you $2.40 to earn from the bonus before you break even. The premium bonus is 16% compared to 7% for free members. That should be trivial for a US member.

The publicly available data suggests one clixgrid click is worth ~0.03c on average, which is $6.57 a year for premium members. It's not a great deal, but it's effectively one free cashout a year, and it's better than being kidnapped by an angry tribe of sea monkeys who wish to make you their king (which sounds good on the surface, but remember you can't breathe underwater).

Don't take my word for it - not least, because I stopped counting months ago - compile the numbers for yourself using stats posted in the forum. And remember, probability is weird - these values are worked out over millions of clicks, and your own personal numbers will be swingy until you've been clicking to at least a few tens of thousands.

I won five times in the 11 days before this promotion, and thus expect to win ten times during the 11 day promotion. So far, I've won no times during the promotion, but I'll be damned if I'm beaten by a pseudorandom number generator.
