I could listen to this song all day - and often do.

Seriously?

We've had support for 64GB of RAM on a 32 bit system since 1999. There must surely be a Windows PAE kernel by now.

*quickly DuckDuckGoes*

Oh wait, there is How to enable PAE in Windows 7

I'm thankful to dinkypumpkin, whose actual name I don't know because they don't sign their commits, for supporting get_iplayer practically single handed since 2011, without which, I wouldn't have been able to watch the Doctor Who I just watched, after missing it yesterday.

Nobody cares about Windows phone. It's a horrible platform to write for, and only six people use it anyway.

Microsoft know this, and have started adding Android compatibility - because that's the only way they can get anyone to write software that will work for them. You can't pay people to install apps if nobody wants to write the apps in the first place.

So, your choices are a) get a phone that isn't universally detested by developers, or b) wait for the Android support to be ready for the prime time.

Live a sinful and dishonest life, and you'll find them in the afterlife when you're spending seven years ringing the bell.

But they're not hard. You can use the animation filter in GIMP. You just create two layers with different background colours, and add (1234 ms) to the layer name, where 1234 is the number of milliseconds you want in delay between switching the layers, and...that's it.

Incidentally, I'm writing a game at the moment, which features a Muslim Ninja in the Hijab as the protagonist. I wish the people who'd seen the preview were more like Bill...

I've got what they call Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. It's a circadian rhythm condition, not a sleep disorder, per se. That is, I sleep just fine - I just do it at different hours to everyone else.

Never woke up in the middle of the night remembering the Clixgrid...mostly because I've got a sleep disorder, and I'm still awake at rollover.

I have remembered at 5 minutes to five though, and managed to completely the twenty within seconds of the limit. You'll never swear more about loading times than then.

HOW MANY MBPS DO I REALLY NEED » Post #10

Tue Nov 10, 2015 10:48 in General Talk

I pay $85 for 40mpbs. This includes a landline connection that they force me to have, even though I haven't owned an actual landline phone since 1998. This is high, even for the UK, but there's only a single provider for the entire village. Even BT can deliver DSL to the exchange, but has nothing in the last mile.

I don't need that sort of speed - 90% of my time is spent in a terminal transmitting text, and the rest at Clixsense or KoL, the little downloading I do, I do overnight anyway - but my only options are fibre or dial up.

15mbps is required for streaming video at high def, so he hasn't just plucked a number out of the air.

If you just want standard def, you can get away with 3.5mbps. DVD, I'm not sure off the top of my head, but I think you need 10mbps.

So, it depends on the quality of the video you're streaming - but he's probably right.

If you can find a hundred advertisers to buy ads every day, I'm sure Clixsense will be happy to run them.

Germany makes up the overwhelming majority of the so called "free web", or "federation" (which is a collection of privacy focused, interconnected social networks). The former USSR and it's satellite states make up the second largest demographic. The rest of the world sticks with Facebook. I don't think this is coincidence, I think this is learning from history.

If you think "If I've got nothing to hide, I've got nothing to fear", please give me your credit card details and the three numbers on the back, you know, the ones they ask you for. Also, please install webcams in your bathroom, and make sure they cover both the toilet and the bath, and are streamed live to the internet 24/7.

Then come back and tell me you've got nothing to fear.
