You know when you log in and get that free ad every single day, even if nobody has bought an ad?

What's that if not a login bonus?

Before RSS was invented, and the only real way to make an announcement was to email everyone - which you can't do if you haven't got their email addresses - I experimented with automatic updates. It was a brilliant, groundbreaking idea, and everyone loved it. Worked perfectly in a dev environment when everyone knew what they were doing.

We rolled it out, broke dozens of sites, and rolled it back within the space of a week.

I don't think Microsoft will keep this particular feature very long either, if only because it will cause as much extra work for them as it will for everyone else.

Oh, yes, I forgot about that. Wifisense is retarded even by Microsoft standards, but the problem isn't in wifisense itself, it's with "sharing wifi on networks I select". Don't do that. Ever. If you don't do that, you'll be fine.

Someone should really drown somebody, and also stab them, and set them on fire (yes, even while they're still wet from being drowned. Drown them in petrol, maybe?), for even making that an option, though.

Virool came back yesterday, with a new (or at least, update) player. I'm not actually sure what's different, I just know I had to update a regex to prevent my own player trying to take over (I'm a direct publisher affiliate).

If you make me your sponsor, I'll kill you last.

(And these last few comments demonstrate nicely why adding or changing sponsors is a terrible idea).

Yes I agree long tail keyword phrases are very easy to rank for but you have to do keyword research first to find those low hanging fruits & then target them with yr content.

If you do that, then yes, you will pick up some short term gains - but you'll also burn out real quick.

It's much more sustainable to just write something that interests you. If it interests you, you can write about it every day and eventually end up with a huge catalogue of pages that naturally pick up requests for every angle of your subject.

Quote:If your content is not ranking very high in search engine result pages then you have no chance getting organic traffic. I think you are referring to social traffic & I am talking about organic traffic.

No, I'm definitely talking about organic traffic. Anything with the word social in it is a cancer which poisons everything.

You have to have a high ranking for a particular search a random person attempts at any given time. Look at your own search history. How many times have you searched for a keyword, and how many times have you searched for a phrase?

Here are my most recent searches

php video thumbnail without ffmpeg
gpx diff dalesway changes 2015
is github the worst thing to have happened in the whole of human history?

How many people have stressed over their ranking for these results? Exactly none. The answers are "you can't", "you'll have to buy the map", and "yes, yes it is", in that order, but the point is I'm not searching for nice neat keywords, and neither is anyone else other than those testing where they appear for key phrases. You pick up much, much more traffic just putting words in a cunning order and relying on the millions more searches a day that don't fit in a nice little, single, popular word.

Just write for humans.

It's true some keywords are competitive, but you're not going to beat someone who throws thousands of dollars at it anyway, forget it. It's also a scam. If you watch your logs, you'll discover that keywords are a nonsense anyway - in the real world, people search for phrases, not keywords. An SEO blackhat might get you to number one in the search rankings for "casino", but the only people searching for "casino" are the people searching to see what their own ranking is...

Or in other words, content is king. If your content is good, people will find it.

Just put some words in a cunning order. That's all you need to do. I get six figures of SE traffic a month just by having members post whatever they want, which is mostly boobs, rants about being offended by boobs, cats, and rants about being offended by cats. Literally no effort at all has gone into it - I haven't even got round to adding page titles yet. They just write stuff, and people searching for it find it.

Interesting Fact: Linux can run more Windows software than Windows. Once a new version of Windows comes out, nobody supports code for old versions of Windows, whereas WINE still does. Therefore, if you've got software for older versions of Windows, Linux stands a better chance of running it than Windows 10.

She can't speak English, she's obviously reading the words, she's getting them wrong, she's mispronouncing everything, but she's got the voice of an angel, so none of that matters.

They got rid of all the crappy legacy stuff - like activex and silverlight. This is a good thing, but you can't help but feel removing something that should never have existed in the first place is...well, it's not really praiseworthy. It's an attempt to control the web gone wrong. It's like praising Germany for pulling out of Poland in 1945.

Other than that, it's entirely nondescript. You won't feel as compelled to immediately change it the second you launch Windows for the first time as you did since Windows 98, but there's no obvious reason to specifically choose it either.

I did have trouble getting plugins installed. It took some wrestling to get flash working, for example - but what I should have mentioned in my previous post is that I've been using the developer preview, not the final product that was just released, so this may be to be expected.

Good - I suppose it looks vaguely pretty in some respects. It's not Josephine Jobert, but it's not John Merrick either.
Bad - it's a thinly veiled stop gap between owning and renting your computer.
Ugly - you're going to eventually end up with a dumb terminal running from the cloud.

Summary: Will never make it out of a VM on any of my machines.

Edit to add - also, it can't run KDE. Not yet, anyway.
