Tell me your premium member experience » Post #12

Sat Mar 07, 2015 20:39 in General Talk

I tried premium membership but didn't renew. Tasks are limited, I don't qualify often enough on surveys and I am useless at promoting to get referrals! I rarely complete the checklist. I have won small amounts on Clixgrid in the past, but am wary of it now after a dodgy site tried to download stuff on my pc.

I'm content being a standard member, and popping in now and again to try a survey.

Hi Valerie

Try the very versatile banana. Apart from eating it, a little bit of mashed banana left on your face for 10 minutes makes a lovely cleansing mask. You can also use the inside of the banana skin as a facial exfoliator and also as a very good leather shoe polish!

I tend to exfoliate and polish, more than using the mask, because I gobble the banana and forget to leave a bit behind.

Do not use natural yogurt for anything other than eating it. It's supposed to be a very good facial cleanser/mask, but no matter how many times you wash, you will smell like sour milk for ages. The almond joy bar is much more preferable, I assure you.

Great list.

I've only just realised how many of them I use frequently!!

Some of my most used are:

argy-bargy and ding dong (argument/fight)

boogie-woogie (dance)

boob-tube (now this refers, in the UK, to the television, and not anything else you lads might be thinking of!)

fuddy duddy (referring to something/someone that's old fashioned, fussy)

gobbledygook (nonesense)

heebie-jeebies (apprehensive of something)

holy moley (exclamation)

big wig (important person)

chit chat (conversation)

dilly dally (dawdling - "get a move on - stop dilly dallying!")

Just kidding there valerie -- Anyways, I feel the same way; the time I had my tooth pulled, I thought the gauze in my mouth was a piece of gum; without knowing it, I kept chewing it on the way home

That's funny.....especially 'McGauze'.

The "can I do this with my referral link?" thread » Post #5

I've been thinking of selling some stuff on Ebay for a long time. This query gave me the push to read through the policies, user agreements, terms and so on. It's all rather mind boggling. Maybe I won't sell, after all! I couldn't really find anything that related to what you want to do, but that doesn't mean something isn't lurking amongst all that mass of information.

What you could try, is to post a query on the discussion forum. There's bound to be other Ebay users who can tell you if this is ok.

Good thread! I'm sure there's many of us thinking of different ways to advertise and someone's "weird" could become someone else's wonderful!

Well, you can't place a referral link on your Ebay listing. I don't see the harm of including a business card with your website address in the parcel, as a business card is more professional. The buyer will either be curious to look at your website, or not.

I would tread very cautiously with that piece of paper. It's more "in your face" and you can't know how the buyer will react. You're not anonymous, so if the buyer is offended by advertising that bears no relevance to the purchase, he/she might report you to Ebay and your status as a seller will be affected.

However, the piece of paper is still a good idea. You could make up leaflets, pass them around to family, friends, work colleagues, etc, post them through letter boxes.

Good luck with whatever you do!

Body lotion moisturizers, do they help long term? » Post #3

Nice, Valerie

I use vaseline and Dove soap as well. Occasionally I'd swap the vaseline and give myself a massage with dry salt while in the bath. It works as a good exfoliator and boosts circulation as well. Twice a week I'd make a face mask just with a banana. You only need a little bit of the banana, massage over face, leave for 10 minutes then rinse off. My skin feels lovely and smooth afterwards. Sometimes, though, I do gobble the banana down and forget to leave a bit for the facial. I'm 55, people think I'm much younger and there's not a wrinkle in sight, yet. Incidentally, the inside skin of a banana makes a great shoe polish!

Basically, though, your skin does change as you age - it's only natural. Lifestyle and diet plays a part, as well. Some things we have no control over, but what we can control we can try to change. I often tell my partner to swap the booze for water, but his remarks suggests I have no control over him. Oh well. So as Valerie says, drink water.

Here's a test you can do to see how good your skin is compared to your biological age.

1. Pinch the skin on the back of your hand and hold for five seconds.

2. Release, and count how long it takes for the skin to flatten out.

How to score:

Time (seconds)

1-2 (under 30)

3-4 (30-44)

5-9 (45-50)

10-15 (60)

35-55 (70)

So, if you are under 30, and the test tells you that you are 70, then, er, changes will need to be made!

I am pleased to announce that I am in the 30-44 range. I must be doing something right!
