No they aren't helping that's so rue - America is on a Super Sized Me trend - these companies put so much CRAP in their food, they give you a rush of insulin, making you even more hungry causing you to eat more more more, so let's sell those doughnuts in packs of 50, I mean who the hell is gonna eat 1 doughnut in America nowadays  and for fast food chains notice those menu items, can't people just settle for 1 hamburger patty, NOPE, let's make it a quadruple patty burger with 4 pounds of bacon. And pizza, all dressed, so boring, let's put 20 different meats, 15 cheese, a dozen fried eggs and french fries - people are not helping themselves with obesity at all - companies are putting stuff in food to make them taste better and cause an addiction. I mean who can resist that decadent triple fudge minty doughnut or that Oreo cookie with not 1 but 5 layers............ Super Sized Me Super Fried Me, now skinny and healthy people are the outcast, you get looked at left and right and people think you are starving to death :P

An article I read on yahoo the other day was extremely sad and outrageous.

A big old apartment building in New York that was built way way long time ago. A family escaped Ukraine and came to America back during the Hitler reign. A boy was just that, about 4 years old. Eventually his mother died and he moved in with his aunt (moms sister) in the one bedroom apartment in the old building. Some years passed and the aunt died. The boy had grown to a young man by then and he continued to live in the apartment. He chose to stay somewhat confined to his area. Worked as a waiter at nearby restaurants all his life. Every month, he would pay his rent in cash or money order. Everyone knew of him, everyone accepted his money, everyone knew his aunt had long since passed away. Now in his 80's, an old man, single, never married, spent almost his entire life in that apartment with his old classic movie collection on VHS, still living there. And then came the Border Jumpers! They were sent to New York to give the New Yorker politicians a piece of the experience. So, they made an agreement with the owner of the big old apartment building. Each apartment that will house border jumpers, the owner will be paid $10,000 a month. The owner or owners are trying to evict this 84 year old man. They're saying it was his aunts apartment not his. He's been crying. Yes, really, crying in tears not knowing what he will do. Hopefully the article will aid in preventing that from happening. Also as a waiter, he made friends with one or more 'higher ups' that is focusing on helping him. You see, it's not just the weapons or the fact they're illegals, it's also the fact they are taking tax payer money and a LOT OF IT!

So are criminals who go to jail, are sheltered and fed, courtesy of tax payers - even that last meal on death row, all courtesy of the tax payers - this crazy President does not want to cut spending, and would rather bankrupt Americans (debt ceiling failure) than do the right thing.....How pathetic.

As far as Americans having enough with border jumpers, well, they should have thought of that on election night instead of being swayed by some sweet talker who did NOTHING he said he would so far, who divided America more than it was divided, who managed to waste more money in his first term than Obama did in both his pathetic terms........so yeah, let's throw away trillions of $ and help other countries, and the people back at home dying, homeless, hungry, poor, F*** them - this is how he comes across. It's sad indeed - I think what's best for everyone: More workers, less CRIMINALS, and due process, it's not fair for people who waited YEARS to enter, build that wall and make it sky high - and it sure ain't gonna happen when voting for the Socialist Party of the far far left.

Three states have a minimum marriage age at the age of 18 – Kentucky, Louisiana, and West Virginia. Two states have a minimum marriage age of 15 years old, Hawaii and Missouri, and two states have the lowest minimum marriage age, which is 14 years old. Those states are Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Right, but the 10 year old, definitely not in the US, anything under 12 falls under pedophile law, besides even 14, I mean it's ridiculous that it is even legal for teens that age to get married, yeah like at that age they are better at compromise and relationship than adults - what a joke - if people that age marry it is usually for all the wrong reasons - and it's usually driven by hormones and stupidity or a reason to get out of the house prematurely - so when "kids" marry at that age, I wonder, who pays for the wedding, honeymoon, that $900k new house (the cheapest on the block), etc. no bloody wonder - this explains a lot - well in America, you won't see much kids getting married, they are too busy playing cowboy and shooting, committing crimes, theft and felonies. How many shooting crimes have occurred during this Presidency - quite a lot - and the debt ceiling won't be raised, causing the entire world to default come June 1st, and people will STILL vote for this MESS - well guess Americans should not complain when they see their hard earned money go down the toilet as a result of default, as in a 45-50% market crash, and would take YEARS to go back up even if a debt ceiling is raised shortly after, so yeah, I bet you many Americans wish they went back in time, but Americans are like Canadians in many way, they have short memories on election day, and 2024 will prove this concept very well :D

As to Squid Games, yes the games definitely, because they are unusual and extremely unpredictable, and of course the character progression during the games and that old guy too, people were vouching for him all the way, only to find out the big twist in the end  ..............and now the actor is apparently a sex offender in real life

a few days you say ? Well you get'em an ice cream cone as a gift

But on a serous note, it's hard to tell someone what gift to get, the person getting married is in the best position to know, if you know that significant other long enough you should know her interest, what she likes, what she wants, what she hates, what she needs, etc. Statistically, if you wanna play it safe, flowers, jewellery (and not the cubic zirconia  ) or the cheap crap you find at the bottom of a Kraker Jax box. The more expensive the better, it holds value for later when she wants to pawn it off :P

If she truly loves you unconditionally and for you as a person, anything should do, as a gesture, though not anything - like for instance you wouldn't want to give her a pair of socks or a pair of knickers as a honeymoon gift

If she truly loves you, the best gift you can give her is your presence and love - if she expects anything more, look elsewhere in my opinion ;)

That's like asking a thief if it's fair for them to take your money, or even better, a thief needs your help to perform a task, you finish teh task but the thief runs away without paying you - was that fair ? I mean sure, that's what thieves do

My sister laughs at me for buying ONE of things. One banana. I don't like overly ripe bananas and I never know when I am going to eat it. I don't want to waste food and prefer the freshest possible. I will buy one banana, one onion, one bell pepper, one orange, and so on.

WELL some types of humans have been wrapping their banana for ages now, in the era where they invented clothes

So anyhow, good, so you are not wasting food that's nice, you buy what you need - you are not part of the Super Sized Me American who buys in bulk and ends up throwing out half of it, they purchased in bulk thinking they were going ot save money, but in reality they wasted money because they threw away half of it in the garbage. Imagine how many hungry people you could have fed with that 50% wasted.

So you buy 1 banana, and 1 unit of each, but sometimes it is a good idea to wrap them or put them in a bag, you might not want to leave them in your car for too long, it might spoil faster, or bugs might eat them first

The good news is that you buy sensibly - the bad news, is that if everybody did like you, prices of food would be 100 times higher - stores are not going to make money from people buying 1 banana and 1 onion

See my point here ? There is lot of money to be made through WASTE - people WASTE, companies PROFIT, and meanwhile people do not understand that resources are not infinite - then you get a supply chain problem - I'm pretty sure the lot who bought 1000's rolls of toiler paper during the pandemic, still have most of it left, unless they are too full of shit

The SquidGames was sort of a new idea and it became very popular because no one had watched anything quite like that before.

Squid Games was the number 1 most watched on Netflix at the time - this is the PERFECT kind of thing you want to watch in the smack middle of a pandemic  Times change now that lockdowns are no longer a thing and the winding down of the pandemic, it's unknown if content like that would have the same effect because after streaming companies are not like network TV - ratings is just one part, but mostly, they want to gain NEW subscribers - since this content is NOT ad supported - Squid Games managed to do just that, you had several millions+++ people subscribe just for that alone, that and Money Heist ..... The problem with Squid Games is that they set the bar really high, it's going to take some amazing creativity to reach that bar even more - it could very well be that the genre of Squid Games is good for 1 season only - if they play it safe and make Squid Games 2 a copy of the 1st, it might not gain as much interest, but if they develop new stuff and new ideas, who knows, but you can always count on Koreans to make good content, I have watched many Koreans series so far and they do not disappoint

For SquidGames 2 you will have to wait another 1 1/2 year, filming has not even started and takes nearly a year just for film, no surprise with such a big cast though, but I am worried, Squid Games 1 was GREAT and set the bar really high, I hope the sequel won't disappoint - it's already disappointing that one of the major characters in season 1 died, even more so disappointing that this actor was arrested for sex crimes...... The only disappointment in Squid Games 1 was the scenes in the end, one where 2 men were humping each other whilst the final challenge was being presented to the board - RIDICULOUS and completely out of context, it's like they ran out of ideas and needed a filler (ahahaha yeah literally speaking too  ) Anyhow no more bullshit, I want to see something brilliant, no fluff, I hope Squid Games 2 lives up.

Banks losing $ » Post #18

valerie wrote: Land is food.

If the world population diminishes to the point no one buys land, you can still live on it and off it.

I must tell you, I have always profited very well from selling land.

Sure, here at least, the average value of a house went up over $150k in 2021-2022 ALONE, so some people saw the value of their home go up 40% in 1 year  and if you look at the breakdown, the land surrounding your house is worth much more than your actual house, sometimes double or more :D BUT.........With rising interest rates, thanks to Jerome Powell, the one who should have been fired ages ago, who still thinks inflation will go down to 2%, but doesn't, and will raise interest rates until it does, it has become more difficult for buyers, I mean you can't just take a loan you can never afford to pay, this is not 2008 anymore, it seems banks have learned, then you have wealthy people - BUT what will happen during a great recession, when markets tank and the wealthy have less money to spend. There is the prospect of a default in about a month all thanks to Wreckless Biden insisting he won't negotiate a ceiling debt, he wants a no condition deal, in other words have his F'n cake and eat it, like his entire sham of a Presidency - so I find it hard to believe people will buy land and houses after a default which is BTW, very likely to happen this time - BUT they will reach a deal, only this time AFTER a default but it will be too late - Stocks would plummet at least 40%-50% down and economy would tank - there is no way land will retain its current value, and it would take a decade or more to recover such mess, not even Trump can save the day :P

Quote:
Also, in particular brings to mind more than one family member that became very wealthy buying and selling land. I don't know of anyone that ever bought land (in the USA) that did not profit from the sale of it. I am speaking historically
and in present.

Exactly up until this point real estate has become profitable, just like the stock market, in the long term even with its ups and down, in the long term values have risen, and particularly during pandemic where people were so desperate to buy a home at ANY cost for remote work. Here back in 2021, you had people willing to spend $600k-$700k on a home valued at $300k, and buy unconditionally - it's crazy, people took advantage of this and sold their homes at ridiculous value, which caused all home prices to go up......... Now with high interest rates some people regret it, because when comes the time to renew the mortgage from near 0% to what it is now, it hurts on that $700k-$800k loan :D

Sure if construction stalls and there is less AVAILABLE homes - prices will go up, as to land, well in some parts of Canada, there is virtually none left as you see all those damn condos being built all over the place, it's ridiculous, in some parts of Canada you don't see nature anymore all you see are buildings - and the crazy people who spend $400k on a 400sqft tiny apartment space - so they spend big money for a prison cell essentially :D

A default if and when it happens will DESTROY everything and that Real Estate bubble will collapse - though yes I know, this will create opportunity to buy low, yeah for those who still have money left to spend :D

Quote:
As for gold, not sure where you get your pricing but gold always increases in value. There may be a brief moment that it goes down slightly on the exchange but it always increases. I have some gold I bought years ago and it has increased very significantly.

Well the great depression is coming in a month, hold on to your gold  and buy a few barrels to store the rice and beans and wheat :D

I'm not sure why there was a shortage but there was.

Besides paper and coins are almost a thing of the past, nowadays people are paying with their credit cards (all 20 of them), debit cards, and mobile phone, it seems cash is being phased out in favour of plastic and then no contact cards with chips, and then you know what comes next, implants :D

How did this happen you say ? You can blame the current MESS and ABOMINATION of an administration in America right now, that and the stagnant inflation, bank crisis, crap economy and all the WASTED money and has handled this pandemic like it was a big joke so far full of empty promises and big words ................

As far as how he entered, easy, like the many that never got a vaccine - Apparently faking a negative test or falsifying documents is super easy and so easy to obtain. HERE they arrested a group that went around selling fake vaccination documents, and these barcodes were valid and checked, and guess what, some of the suspects worked for the very government who issued those official documents, so inside jobs - politicians are corrupt to the bone. COVID19 tests being falsified, fake IDs, fake vaccination documents, etc, easy for anybody to obtain - so no different for Bolsonaro - SO about the vaccines well it turns out new data is showing how big pharmas lied about the actual number events, only a matter of time now before we start hearing about long term effects you know such as turning into crocodiles or bearded women

YIKES a lot of people voted "mistake" that is concerning :P Anyhow, my vote was "BUG", we are like a computer software that is full of bugs some very obvious and serious quality control lacking (Does that sound familiar ? ) It makes me angry when I see people put on their F....... tin foil hat and have all bad things to say about AI, how it will take over the world, put us in danger etc - YET last time I checked, AI is not going around carrying guns and shooting random people every goshdarned second in America or other parts of the world - so we are major clusterF of a bug either that or humans are just a remnant of evil entities. I guess when God created both humans and Satan himself he included some evil code in our genes, maybe he copy / pasted functions to save time and forgot to refactor, or it's clear we are a MAD experiment ! Why is not a mistake but only a bug ? Because not ALL humans turn out to be like that, some are OK - so it's just a bug that occurs during conception that's all - fortunately some humans still are worthy to exist, though nowadays the bug seems to manifest more and more because we have more and more evil, right in line with scripture, evil is on course to reign supreme - SO ....... intentional bug or entirely coincidental result of free will ?
There is no avoiding it, whether you are skeptic / atheist or not, evil IS going to reign supreme - and some might think it already happened ages ago - well that's NOTHING compared to what's to come - now you have parents killing their kids, kids killing their parents, school shootings on a daily basis, other shootings multiple times a day, you have diseases and viruses on the rise, civil unrest, it's all out there, no proof needed, to aliens, we are just annoying PARASITES, just like to humans, cockroaches and other insects are repulsive and useless

Once upon a time they wrapped these things in newspaper (used) or bamboo, today it's plastic, though here in Canada single use plastics are going to be banned, everything will be wrapped in recycled paper or wood - plastic straws no more, only paper ones, plastic utensils no more, only wooden ones................

Don't worry about plastic - the foods we eat go through big industrial machines, most of which are never maintained, rusty, dirty, that and the dozen chemicals they put in most processed (even non processed) foods - that'll kill you before the plastic :P
