Just Another Day in America.........tasman1 » Post #29

South Africa: Fifteen shot dead in Soweto township bar
At least 15 people have been shot dead in a bar in the South African township of Soweto, police say.

Police said gunmen entered the Orlando East tavern in the early hours of Sunday morning and started firing randomly at a group of young people.

They then fled the scene in a white minibus. No motive for the attack has been established, police said.

Several more people are in a critical condition in hospital, the BBC's Nomsa Maseko reports.

The victims are believed to be between 19 and 35 years old.

In short ..........................Nothing New on this planet , back to sleep

That sounds a lot like gang activity - Gangs have a thing called "scoring", sort of like a competition of some sorts to see which gang scores the most points by shooting in each other's areas - how pathetic ! I didn't think it was that much of an issue in other countries but apparently it is.

OR some sort of initiation thing for new recruits.

OR just an average person not affiliated with any group, just getting kicks out of murdering - I am sick and tired of hearing the BS excuses of violent movies and videogames - that is complete rubbish - I've played first person shooters so many times, like Call of Duty, Soldiers of War, Quake, Doom, Battlefield, even GTA :D and yet I never touched a gun in my life - but it all comes down to how you are raised and the environment you live in - if people are raised like shit and continually surrounded by violence, abuse, etc, they will turn out this way more times than not.

valerie wrote: Sort and sorta not.

In other words, have you given thought to people marrying for other reasons, not love, not sex, not wealth?

Yes, it's called arranged marriages, it's common in some countries - and sometimes in the US, haven't you watched Coming To America and Coming 2 America the sequel?

Quote:
An older man and woman came to look at my house for sale some years ago. They met while retired living in a condo in Florida. They lived in the same building. Each was paying $2,000 a month for their amenities, etc. After getting to know each other, they decided to get married to save $2,000 a month. In other words, for them, it some how became a 'savings' to be married. They did not go into all the details. They were looking at my property for sale but they relayed the jest of it.

That is basically one of the points I gave - it is an arrangement to benefit one another, it is not always about flesh, wealth, but whatever benefits, and usually around money, so if you can save money, you arrange a marriage, people are willing to marry and go through loopholes to save on $$$$, it's an example of an arrangement to benefit both parties. Oh and let's not forget another reason - Guy travels, gets brainwashed, meets someone, gets drunk, gets humped a few times, "falls in love (what a joke)" and the Mrs. fell for the guy too and she wants so badly to go back with him. What's a way to ease the process - marriage, so that's another reason - marriage is mostly about arrangements, the true love and unconditional love forever is just a tiny fraction - some people want to marry because they want monetary benefit or simply do not want to be alone - but the problem is, marriage is a long term commitment, and no matter what, you cannot live 24/7 with someone unless you are extremely compatible - if people do not want to be alone and need company or affection, if they have nothing else to give in return, they are better off with a $25k life like shag doll, that'll keep them company 24/7, and when you take into account the total cost of marriage, it's way more expensive :D

Quote:
Take me for example. I not only receive mat retirement benefits, I receive some of my deceased husbands retirement benefits. IF I was to marry, I would stop receiving my deceased husbands benefits.

Of course - exactly :D Marriage is an investment (long term) and a business transaction - just like any business and investments, you can benefit from it if you play your cards right and know what you are doing - do most people know what they are doing ? NO - most people in my country and yours cannot even point their state on a map

Quote:
I would go so far to say, a lot of people don't marry today due to financial situations and divorce might even play into that. Not just older people but young people too.

Yeah it's not uncommon now for people to just live with one another and skip the official marriage part. In some countries the process of divorce is extremely expensive or difficult, causing divorce rates to be very low to nil, I think it is that way in Philippines - people find ways around that by just separating and parting ways without divorcing.
Then you have the issue of prenup, some countries do not enforce it or the process is complex, so this might cause people to think twice or more before marrying if of course that was their intention to begin with :P In Ireland, a prenup is not legally binding and not enforced, hopefully most people know that already so perhaps people marry and/or divorce less over there :D

Here on this part of the swamp - celebrity #1 meets celebrity #2, they get married, they sign the papers, and 1 year later, they divorce, celebrity #2 is way richer than #1, so #1 is getting a good deal here  Marriage in celebrity world is just one big transaction - dare I name names, there is one I have in mind between an actress and ........... let's leave it at that - that marriage is a sham and a gold digger's found a jackpot kind, what a shame that the Mr. is not seeing through it - but oh well - one day maybe :D Not gonna mention names because there is not much we can say or discuss around here anymore. But when some guy has to part way with their roots and culture just because wife cannot keep up with traditions, protocol, well that's highly disturbing - kinda makes you wonder about compatibility, oh well this could be a win-win situation for both, Mr is getting some good **** and mrs is getting some good prestige and a generous inheritance (maybe) :P

valerie wrote: I think at some point they may need to develop water pipe lines across countries. So that when it's dry in one part of the world, they can send the flood water thru the pipeline to the dry part of the world. They do it with gas so why not water!

They do so with gas because it is profitable - prevention isn't, and what you suggest would cost a colossal amount of money - do you have any idea the implications of building lines from one country to another, when were these built, and now with high cost of material and labour it would be unthinkable - not even Biden or Bernie Sanders could raise the amount of money to do that - it would likely not work for floods - here is why - I will use the storm drains as an example - in some parts of Canada you have only 1 sewer line in the middle of the street, this serves as both carrying people's sh*t, and carrying rain water. In other cities, like mine for example, we have 2 lines, 1 dedicated for sewage, and 1 drain for carrying the rain / water, the pipes extend all the way across cities and into who knows where. There is only so much an infrastructure can handle - for normal even heavy rain fall, no problem, water gets diverted in the drain - without those drains which are usually close to sidewalks, our streets would be like lakes during a normal rainfall :D However, for exceptionally heavy rainfall, say 100mm of rain in 1 hour, instead of spread across 24/48 hours, that would overwhelm the drains and they would flood - the pressure this creates has even blasted some lids open - Many times here we've had extreme rain conditions which caused local flooding, never on my street, but exploding drain covers and water gushing in main streets and areas. If the lines are sloped, it carries the water on its own - but for such long distance lines, they would need pumps - imagine the costs it would involved - even if you were to abolish NASA and looking for ETs and gaping holes in outer space, it would not even cover a fraction of a fraction of the cost of water pipelines, so that's never gonna happen - it would be cheaper to just invent something that would push rain clouds away from flood prone areas and into dry areas than building flood pipe lines across countries

WELL in America yes, but Canada is no better - the only difference is that in Canada the shootings are done mainly by street gangs in major cities, there are now multiple shooting events DAILY in some cities in Canada. In America, given that it is easier for both criminals and non criminals to get guns, the shootings is more general, combining street gangs and regular people, problem is definitely worse in America. Law enforcement is well aware of gangs, but even gangs are protected under constitution - you cannot arrest someone for being in a gang - but then why don't pow-lice go in gang specific areas and watch, all it takes is a few days so they eventually arrest and dismantle those groups - they don't, because in my opinion they take money from the gangs, just like in the series Shades of Blue with Jennifer Lopez :D
OR they are scared out of their f'in mind to be a target, so they just leave it alone, police are aware of the gang members, not much is done - so America has to worry about gangs AND regular shooters - In Europe people have to worry about swords and terrorist groups are more prominent - in America it's the terrorists within - it's no longer about ISIS or Al'Qeida, it's now the LOCAL terrorists

There are way more shootings in America than those reported in the news - many go unreported. The latest one, in Texas, a woman was getting ready to go to work in the night, on her way she came across a car with its high beam lights on, she was annoyed by that and simply signalled the car by flashing her lights........BIG MISTAKE - the guy did not like that and pulled a gun and shot the innocent lady going to work - fortunately she lived, but the f***er did not get caught and is roaming freely. It's not like she screamed or made gestures or anything, just a subtle signal.........Welcome to America - where you can get shot in the head by saying hello to someone or even thank you.......and these MORONS trying to pass bipartisan bills for gun control LOL what a JOKE - as if this bullshit will disarm criminals, it won't.

Once upon a time road rage was a fist fight, NOW, it's pull down the f****** window and pull the trigger, the new era where people settle everything with guns - when the bloody hell are people going to wake up and realise guns are not the problem - it's the people holding them.

PATHETIC !

Your best bet is not to order 'fast food' anyway. If you do and it is not made to your qualifications, it's best to simply request the manager and inform politely the issue. Better still yet, simply say nothing and never go there again.

It's kind of like shampoo. I buy a bottle of shampoo because it sounds good, may even have a fantastic aroma, but when I use it, it's awful. Do I go shoot the company that makes it? NO. I simply either give it away or throw it away and never buy it again.

What is wrong to go and shot company if they make mistake , tooth for tooth eye for eye plus bonus

I hope you really don't think this way    New reality in America, you do not want a job where you deal with the public, that's a big no-no. One day they'll have to install bullet proof glass behind the counters of all restaurants and fast food places, and all food will need to be delivered to people using conveyor belts - no more human interaction it's dangerous - besides some restaurants in Japan use this approach already, the food going to conveyor belts and onto tables that is.......... Self serve fast food, you order through a tactile display and food gets dropped down a chute at the bottom of the counter where you pick it up - the view of the kitchen at the back is completely shielded with double layer bullet proof glass - welcome to the future in America and in Canada, businesses cannot close down, they have to now protect themselves against the crazies roaming around because the asylums are too full so the government figures it's best to keep them on the streets instead, and they will only be put in jail after they kill a few innocent people first.

The statistics on divorce are a sham, they are way less than reality - Facts and rates for 2022, 50% of marriages in the US end in divorce -ahahahahaha it's way more than that, their sample is too small and non conclusive - but even more disturbing - the #1 cause of divorce - Abuse (physical, verbal, etc.) I'm sure money issues, cheating, the don't love each other no more - of course if people marry f or the wrong reasons in the first place, because Mr. had a hard on and Mrs. had hard nipples, it's love at first site, people use lust and infatuation + their very brief fornication session to establish a baseline of compatibility and from there decide to "commit" (hahahaha) to marriage - marry for the wrong reason, and odds are you will get divorced for the right ones  Ask all those divorce lawyers they are flooded with work, so much that they have to refuse clients and ask them to go elsewhere - and divorce lawyer tops the chart in jobs that are immune to recession, depressions and economic turmoil, with #1 being funeral homes

Yes they did but to late for people who die ..... btw I read in Denmark same shit happen this year many times , like they try to take title from US ,,, Mad world

It's pretty hard to beat the US - there is more crime and murders + shootings in the US than all terrorism world wide combined in one day - what about that piece of excrement who shot people on the 4th, what was his motive for doing this did they say ? I did not read much about that yet - and in Canada some provinces are practically on par, with multiple shooting incidents DAILY. New York that used to be calm and safer for many years, became what it was a long time ago, dangerous, violent and ridden in crimes - it's those ********d street gangs, these same US gangs that come to Canada and expand - so yeah compare this to ISIS and other terrorist acts, it's clear NOW that there are more terrorists and criminals WITHIN - no wall or immigration ban can fix that, so it's time for someone with enough balls to take care of the local criminals first, because right now your OWN people are representing more of a threat than any of the worst terrorist groups there is. It's not safe to go ANYWHERE in America now, day or night time, you never know if you are going to be shot, and you obviously cannot count on cops or law enforcement - they will wait until many die, then act... PATHETIC !!!!

But hey let's spend trillions looking for extraterrestrial it's more important than spending a lot of money on security and measures so that people can feel f****** safe in their own country again. Oh yes that cold arctic air - we gotta live with that here a couple of months every year, no problem I'm used to it, I prefer that, then 45-50C where your skin cooks in under a minute :P So you are at the other spectrum of the "global warming"

When it's cold at least you can stay home and warm up - but when it's oven hot, you need blasting AC, which is $$$$$, here to get that luxury in a home you need to cough up $75k or more, and $4k-$8k periodic maintenance and duct cleaning - so it makes the antarctic air and cold option in Australia much more attractive :D

Quote:
For the third time this year, Sydney has been hit by major floods. Scientists blame intense rainfall on a combination of factors - but, on social media, unfounded allegations of "weather manipulation" have spread widely.

a "combination" same old bullshit - what "combination" would that be - it's the same diatribe - but scientists have to say science stuff. As to social media, you shouldn't bother reading anything on there, it's a cesspool of charlatans , quacks and snake oil merchants. Weather manipulation ? seriously ? Where did they get that rubbish, the Smurfs, that weather machine episode ? But actually Tasman1, if you think about it, how ran is formed and weather works, in THEORY, it would be possible to manipulate it, in practise it would be very complex and very expensive, it's better to spend trillions of $ looking for planets and gaping holes in the universe instead or secret military projects and alien autopsies here :P

Quote:
Experts say no single factor can explain this extreme weather, pointing instead to warmer oceans and saturated soils as contributing factors.

SO that's the combination of factors ? Logically, but what is logic now in 2022, they could just install a large vapour barrier covering the entire surface of the ocean, so water no long rises to form the clouds, problem solved, :P

Quote:
But conspiracy theorists aren't buying it. On social media, they blame the extreme rainfall on cloud seeding and weather manipulation.

Opinion ??

Cloud seeding so essentially what that means is that you artificially evaporate water and point it at clouds so they get bigger and bigger and filled with water, in other words you speed up the natural process of cloud formation - like I said above, technically that is possible, but I am no weather expert, we'd have to ask a meteorologist, maybe one here can weigh in - IN my opinion we would could probably create some artificial clouds, it's not hard, but can you create enough to cause rain and floods - that would be a bloody challenge  I don't think the average person has the knowledge or "equipment" - so for now we can put aside those conspiracy theories I'm sure Australians have better things to do than seed clouds  ...even the so-called government :P

The cave people survived so we'll survive, as long as there is wi-fi in those caves

Stock market, oh forget about the bloody stock market, it's the same old bullshit - down down down then bounce back up higher than it was - yeah stock market will really get hit hard - one clear indication of this is the VIX index, you will notice that the vix index is so low now, too low considering the volatility, this is very disturbing - stocks are in a bear market and back to back sell-offs yet the VIX index is between 26-30, NOT GOOD - you'd expect a VIX index at least 2x-3x high. A low VIX indicates we have not seen anywhere near the end of this volatility, and markets have a long way to go to hit the psychological "bottom" - I could see a stock melt down similar to 2008 if inflation is not controlled despite the interest hikes - however, it can go the other way around, if inflation goes down but avoiding a recession, stocks will rally, and in no time it will get out of a bear market - let's get real here, it won't be the case, not this year - and as to World War 3, I think this is not in the plans - This SOB you know how, has figured that inflation, oil and food price hikes and the instability caused by his war makes far more damage than his nukes - he has a lot to lose by using nukes, but so much to gain by using the war and inflation to create damage, far more effective than a conventional WW3 scenario.
Now with Trump this close to being convicted and jailed because of his involvement in January 6, the prospect of Biden or his ***ch winning a second term are higher and higher, unless there is another BETTER Republican alternative, God help us ALL if the Democrats win another term - Obama did enough damage already, so yeah not a good situation, for the next 1 maybe 2 years stocks will be volatile - as long as this f***ing inflation is out of control, volatility will be there, and this war is not helping at all - maybe only the energy sector - let's get real I am sick and tired of listening to that other foul mouth being attacked, that war will be over very soon - come on - wake up people, none of these 2 turnips want to make concessions - both are causing great harm to their own countries, so this war can last a year, maybe many years - eventually companies will have to stop being greedy pricks and project to lower profits - you could eventually see a stock market that stabilises over time, but do not expect high yearly returns like before, and it's like stocks will remain in the negative returns for at least another year or two, maybe more, unless 1) A recession is avoided + 2) Inflation is down. Investors do not give a shit about inflation - as long as people keep buying and companies keep earning - you will notice how stocks were doing well - they only dropped big time ever sine Federal Reserve decided to increase interest rates aggressively to control inflation - this will EAT into companies' earnings and spending potential - inflation is not a problem when people have money to spend - stock market is based on performance, regardless - but jack up the interest and people will spend less money, companies will earn less, stocks will go down - stocks are fuelled by earning reports and corporate greed !!!!

If public companies do not adapt and get used to new realities then we will remain in negative returns for years to come, NOT GOOD !

So a company projects $1.5 billion in earnings - Quarterly report shows $1.2 billion - SCANDAL - sell sell sell sell.
Greedy *****S ! Some companies are making very comfortable PROFITS, but if they are under their ridiculous, often unrealistic projections, it causes a sell-off in stocks - RIDICULOUS !!!!

If you were to work for me, and earned $1 billion a year salary, and I decided to cut your paycheck by $5k, would you starve to death ? :P It's ridiculous - Inflation could be at 25% does not matter - as long as companies are meeting their goals and earnings, share holders are happy - it is just the poor and average people who suffer - companies could care less, all they want is for people to buy their shit and for these public companies to meet their quarterlies - no problem....as stocks go up and to take into account inflation, companies have to project higher and higher - many of those companies have A LOT of very high earning executives, if you were to cut their paycheck in HALF they would still be able to live VERY comfortably and support themselves, their families and many generations FFS !

Well if you think it is that bad in India, it is so much worse here in North America - statistics once showed that 2/3 of marriages end in divorce, mainly the ones that were fuelled by lust, as lust fades - but when it is marriage based on taking advantage of one another in a win-win situation - girl takes advantage of a guy for his money and sex addiction, guy takes advantage of girl for his "needs", win-win - until one day guy runs out of money or girl finds guy with more money, rinse recycle repeat that's how it works today  True love my arse, true love is maybe in the single digit percentage of relationships - people should stop believing the rubbish - it's all about LOOKS, cock and money, the whole "personality" first is bollocks - it used to be, but not anymore - maybe a small percentage of guys but they are mostly shy, reserved or gay (or ugly) :D Reality has changed - in THEORY marriage should be about TRUE love and COMMITMENT - commitment means you don't f*ck around with other guys, girls, etc, how many people understand what commitment is - let alone true love.

It is skyrocketing but worst situation is that they continue to increase prices daily , how far ?

NOT normal it just means the greedy crooks running these companies are take advantage of a situation and increase prices unnecessarily, and using "inflation" as an excuse - I mean sure inflation means higher prices, but right now prices are much much much higher than they should be even with the inflation, so companies are using this to enrich their pockets by artificially inflating inflation :D

How far can it go, well ask the seniors who are relying on their saved money and portfolios, with inflation ALONE, more than 3/4 of their savings will be dissolved and worthless in a few years time and if the interest rates hikes does not tame the inflation as expected and we go in a deep recession, expect markets to tumble in a similar way to 2008 with a longer recovery time than 2008.
