Did you know Barker is 98 years old!

That's it ? I thought he was close to 137 :D So yeah he's 98 years OLD indeed and he still earns a good royalty from Price Is Right - deserved, he made the show what it was, I dunno if any of the scandals about him shagging his colleagues true or not, but he was a one of a kind host and he connected with people, unlike the fake they have right now and the new direction of the show - no wonder he is unhappy about that - I think they pushed him out to retirement, it's funny watching clips of him hosting the show when he had black hair

Are we gonna get screwed over by Amazon ? » Post #18

Mon Apr 11, 2022 07:20 in General Talk

One thing Amazon makes it right when you have issues with your order, BUT the catch with Amazon is that executives are monitoring accounts and banning non profitable accounts - you see Amazon is a bottom line only company, if they are not making money off of you, they kick you out permanently. This is true - so for instance if you return too many items or get too many courtesy credits, etc, you get eventually kicked out. Amazon does NOT reveal the threshold obviously but they do keep tabs - even if your returns are as a result of being deceptive or the credits you get are because of their issues and not your own fault. I've only had a few issues with Amazon, one time product was shipped to wrong address, it was the correct street number, but the wrong street  Fortunately I was contacted by the person who noticed the box on their door step - so an Uber driver who cannot read street signs or use a bloody GPS !!! Anyhow, I managed to get a refund for the shipping equivalent from Amazon, even though I am Prime, I pay for perks, which I did not receive, so they credited me $6. Another instance where I was promised one day delivery, and had to wait 2 extra days for delivery because item was not in stock despite being marked in stock - So Amazon gave me a $19 credit towards my next Prime renewal. Another time, I ordered some hard drives, they came in a box loose with poor packing, the drivers were clicking and producing lots of corrupted data and unrecoverable errors. SO they refunded me the entire price of the drive, and asked me to keep the drive. I've never actually returned stuff on Amazon, but I know they keep a track of all those credits you get, even if not your fault - there have been instances where people have been cut off from Amazon because they were not profitable enough - if Amazon is losing money from a customer, they will deny them service and ban them. Amazon has always made it right by me when I had issues though. I think the price hike is excessive but for people who order frequently or for the streaming alone, it's worth it, it's just as every one is raising prices here and there - I mean 20-40% price increases, but it's funny, do people get a 40% raise on their salary ? Never happened :D

But there was a problem with that.

Ohhhh yes I remember, I knew I heard the rotator somewhere, didn't Jim own one or was it AdHits ?

Quote:
Say you had 100 members in the rotator. They did not rotate in any kind of a sequence. So johns page might come up twenty times during the advert and Mary's might come up only five times, etc.

Wow that sucks, talk about clumsy coding - so essentially a random number generator. Good coding would be to make it fair, use a random sequence but make sure the same position is not chosen again until the others are chosen, or after a set number of positions are chosen - there are ways to make a controlled random environment, but I guess coders are usually too lazy - yeah that method sounds unfair, especially considering the nature of traditional RNG on computers :D

valerie wrote: Just depends on their legal contract.

Actors are paid an amount to be in a movie. Most likely they are not paid anything else. If they are paid 10 million for the movie contract, that's it.

Yes the contract is for the MOVIE - but eventually the movie comes out on DVD / BluRay and or streams online, streamers have to pay licensing fees to the studios, so in theory actors receive some residual from that. I know for a fact TV series work like that, when the show gets syndicated and show re-runs they get paid, I don't know if it is a legal obligation for movie studio to pay residual, I've never starred in a movie before :D but from a business perspective it is likely. Besides actors never deal directly with anybody, all the deals are done through their agents, including finding them roles, $$$ negotiations, etc. All the actors do is sign the contract(s) - could it be that agents later make sure the studios or networks pay their residuals, maybe, it's all about money. If Johnny Carson was alive, he'd get paid for those Carson re-runs :D

Bob Barker, still gets paid a big residual from the show, even though he retired so many years ago - He said it himself during an interview when asked about his discontent with new host and the direction of the sow, he said he wants what's best for the show he does not hate the show, he earns a sizable residual income form that show.

I think only principle performers and actors get residuals, if a show is syndicated, gets, redistributed or streamed, but extras obviously not :D There could be exceptions of who gets Royalties and who doesn't.

Jerry Sienfeld for example, well he earns around $40 million A YEAR only from residuals for Sienfeld alone - that's crazy, that's good retirement money right there for doing nothing

I don't like insects or crawly things. I keep the place sprayed inside and out and if I see an insect inside, it is dead. Spiders seem to like the garage here. Rather big spiders too. They're dead but big and ugly.

How big ? It seems everything is bigger / supersized in America :P I'm sure your spiders cannot compete with Australia, they have the world's most dangerous insects over there, second to Hawaii, mind you HI is a state so yeah US cannot compete with Australia though. Those spiders in your house can be your best friend Valerie, fortunately most spiders are harmless and rarely bite (so they say), and they eat all the bugs in and around your house :D They may like your garage for a reason - for some reason, spiders LOVE the smell of gas or car's exhaust. If you use a gas BBQ and you clean out your burners, you will notice spiders in them, they love the smell ....... So I think those spiders are entering your garage through your car, has to be :D You can probably find some up in the attic too, just don't bother the brown recluse or black widows  Some spiders do bite, but apparently most won't do so unprovoked, I dunno exactly which species of spiders are venomous or more aggressive, I do know the ones in Australia are, like the funnel web spider, they have spiders there the size of a basketball or larger :D

You could sell canned pigeon poo on eBay. People buy anything on eBay.

So I heard, yeah that's true - stories of frivolous sales on eBay are all over the place - I remember the story of someone who sold a piece of toast with a cross on it, claiming it was blessed, sold it for thousands of $. Oh yeah, the fart jars, apparently this is a good seller - done initially as a joke, someone found out that he / she was getting LOTS of requests for farts in a jar - I'm pretty sure eBay must have some rules, but there again they probably are ignored, just like there are many scammers selling on Amazon, fake items, deceptive, etc. I'm pretty sure you can find anything on eBay, from farts, to real human toes, to a jar of clipped nails :P

Humans are full of it, so it probably has no value - but whale's blue vomit, that's worth millions $ - and apparently when bees munch on the pollen or whatever, they then vomit, and that's the honey we eat - well apparently honey is good for you, and Kopilewak Coffee comes from fermented poop of cats, yet it's the most expensive coffee in the world :D

Why is it hard to believe, and how is it misleading, it's true - and yes charge coming through same hole, remember there is a reason why it's not the case for humans - I won't spell it out  why would they lie about pigeons, I tried getting more info and can confirm it to be true. The article is fact, birds use one hole to do No. 1 and No.2 that hole is called the "cloaca" (hey at least you can't say this topic was for nothin' ).

Birds, unlike mammals, do not have separate exits for urine and feces. Both waste products are eliminated simultaneously through the cloaca. While mammals excrete nitrogenous wastes mostly in the form of urea, birds convert it to uric acid or guanine, which reduces water loss in comparison.

Hey mom guess what I learned in school today ?

But in the older days that was not always so.

Same with music.

Syndicated shows most certainly do - if not mistaken, syndication can occur after a minimum of 100 episodes, once a show is syndicated it can be shown across networks, reruns, etc, it's good residual income for all involved. Any movie or old series is streamed somewhere, these actors get a residual - even for the garbage movies :D

It's funny that a lot of celebs don't even bother watching their own movie - :D

What's that a sex toy of some sort ? Is it the same thing as a Cycler I remember those shady programs, you invested money you then were added at the bottom of a list, someone ivnested after you your name would be pushed up a position until you went to the top and cycled out, or something like that - true ponzi scheme model these programs never lasted anyway, or perhaps you meant rotators as in advertising ?
As to DonkeyMail, it's probably not worth the time anymore, probably doesn't pay much anyways, maybe a few cents a week, I wouldn't be interested in any programs unless it could earn a few dollars daily, if I wanted just cents I'd do everything here instead  Whatever active referrals people had are probably no longer active anymore - people get lured all the time where there is more money and ever sine this Cryptocurrency crap has become a trend, people have flocked to those shady sites promising riches, they are just ponzi schemes, but people like to dabble with garbage even if it means risking losing money. This is why it is extremely difficult to find ACTIVE and committed referrals to legit, sustainable business. It seems nobody likes to work for money anymore or earn slow but legit. People have gotten used to the shady programs like, invest $100 and earn back $300 in 24 hours :D I know, I've been gullible too and got scammed thousands of $ in these scams - fortunately I recovered all my losses in 1-2 years earnings on CS :D

You shouldn't complain you do well :P I've been trying for 2 bloody years here with almost $0, until 1 day last week almost earned $30 :P a few double digit days this month too - never stopped trying, never closed doors, because last time I left ClixSense to work for a company and help them and earn 4 figures a month, they betrayed me, sometimes the grass may appear greener on the other side but it harbours some poisonous snakes, it's the best example I can think of the SNAKES I worked with including people I thought were close friends and trusted colleagues - shame on them and F*** them all because many don't deserve to be where they are right now - but company preferred keeping mediocre workers that sucks up to the community manager and licks company's collective nuts - I don't work like that, I like to keep my tongue pink and not brown :P Besides I think many of us are still here for nostalgia and because something is better than nothing. and where else on earth can you discuss about pigeons and poo

Well the survey invites directly from PureSh** are one thing and the Spectrum ones redirected through other routers is another - Yeah they are generally bad, but found that they have gotten better over the years, I've actually completed some high paid surveys with them - even on ySense, you never know, I still try them, I think even PureSpectrum sometimes redirects to other common routers too, they are no more garbage, than the rest of the surveys here including ySense PMR and the off quota, bottom of the barrel invites from Samp. It's not like we have a plethora of routers here anyway. You never know - I mean one day last week here I earned almost $30 in surveys, so far I have almost $80 for April, I mean I sure wish it was like that all the time and not once every 2 years :D

With the inflation and cost of living through the rough, a $35k would be poverty here and in the US and most probably Australia - not everyone who earns extra money online is piling debt, any extra money is good to have it's better than nothing, it's a supplement - of course unless you live in a mansion with 10 cars and have millions in the bank, you probably don't need the extra cash, unless your lavish lifestyle costs you more money than you have - it's not uncommon for rich people to go broke because they still manage to live beyond their wealth. You are here, because you know that your opinion is important to all these companies and that by filling surveys you make a big difference in shaping the quality of products and services - your opinion matters

I haven't finished it yet, I can't wait to see how it goes, it's just so slow and boring, it trails on and on, and so far there is a lot of questions unanswered, like why did the couple lie about going on a retreat and they went to a lake and jumped. I know that they have had a son, what was odd about their son, where did the doll come into play, I mean the acting is really good, but so far this looks to me like another budget film, I haven't heard the doll speak yet or do truly horrific things, guess will continue watching it and hope it gets better, it falls short on what I was expecting though, but I love the story, and yes it's definitely weird, - the doll looks more like a girl than a boy though  and what about the nanny that went up in the attic and all of a sudden she was locked there, the ladder came up by itself ?
