Play Dumb be Smart...tasman1 » Post #5

Sun May 28, 2017 09:54 in General Talk

tasman1 wrote: Playing dumb is an excellent ploy for finding out how much or how little other people actually know and is an excellent way to gauge character and communication skills.

Clever cluelessness can get you out of extra work.
Hiding your smarts is excellent camouflage.

When dealing with an intellectually-challenged authority figure, it is often better to play dumb.
In a competitive situation it is often better to have your opponents underestimate you, which is especially useful if they are already likely to underestimate you for other reasons

Now folks , Are You Smart Enough To Act Dumb Enough To Get Ahead?
What is a benefit in all this ?????

Nobody asks for your opinion because they think you have no opinion
Nobody feels threaten by you
Nobody gives you extra work because they think you are doing the best you can do
People let down their guard and speak without a filter
You will have job security because nobody fires the idiot
People generally like the idiot
The idiot has the security of using “I don’t know” or being oblivious to the obvious
Nobody consults you, asks you to solve a problem, or asks for your help.

And much , much more

Tasman,

The above position would not jell with an upwardly mobile enterprise. The 'idiot' would be sacked without hesitation as he would be deemed as not adding value to the enterprise. The so-called 'job security' would be zilch.

Secrets to a happy relationship? are there any? » Post #58

Fri May 05, 2017 13:04 in General Talk

I have had a good laugh from all the previous posts. I am still laughing though.

That said, I believe true happiness would be found in a relationship when both parties (individually) resolve to contribute a 110% effort to make the union work irrespective of what the other person is bringing on the table. That way, both parties will see to it that the union work.
