White House , Croatian stone » Post #1

Sun Dec 11, 2016 18:48 in General Talk

Ever since ancient times stones have been dug out at the stone excavation sites on the island Brac. (At present, the most important stone excavation place is situated near town of Pucisce.) the stones from island Brac have been used for building some of the well known world structures. The high quality stone enabled building a number of famous constructions in Croatia too. The most significant are the Palace of Diocletian, the Cathedral of St James in Sibenik and the Cathedral of St Lawrence in Trogir which have been under World Heritage (UNESCO) protection. The White House in Washington, the Parlament House in Vienna and Budapest were built from stones

The White House in Washington, D.C. drew upon a type of limestone harvested in Dalmatia to help build its beautiful white columns. Indeed, those columns came all the way from Croatia. Why Croatia? Well, because, as some sources say, Croatian limestone is the fine wine of the building industry, literally the gold standard

A type of Croatian limestone called "Istrian Stone" or Kirmenjak was exported to Italy to literally build the foundations of the city of Venice

Are you going to grade our tests pretty soon, so we can see how we did?

If we flunked, do we get to take it again?

Cuz it wasn't really fair for you to make us take a surprise test with no questions that we didn't get time to study for.

Oh Dear , Enrolling Kindergarten at my age will be fun , fresh start
