I'll have to say it's way to buggy in it's current state.
If you're thinking about using it as a working platform i would not recommend it,setting menu crashes sometimes/ OftenThe os freezes up to 10 seconds when copy/move files or folders/nearly everytime the os sleeps up to 6 seconds when doing a simple task like opening a rar archive, To sum it up it seems that the system very often goes to sleep for no reason really???
Keep in mind that if your hardware is build on the latest 6th generation (Skylake) Architecture,It will be difficult and a nightmare dowgrading to win 7 again,I downgraded to win 7 again without any recovery options or old folders available (But it's not the same win 7 as it used to be).
A good thing in win 10 is the build-in Hyper V,If your bios supports it you can use it to install another os and use that instead.
My best advice would be to wait another 6-8 months before upgrading,At the moment we are beta-testers.
But you could try it out,If you're upgrading from 7 to 10 it should be easy to downgrade again.
I am not sure of your summation above. I upgraded in October last year and I have not had any issues yet.
I think Microsoft are using selective updates for specific Regions/Countries,Some users ends up in trouble and some not(Just a hunch).
Been using a lot of time with workarounds on this os than any previous versions of windows,Also paid over 200$ for something that's not working properly (It's not ok).
Also had a lot of other issues,All my desktop shortcuts are just Blank/White sheets w. no image on them (Even the recycle bin),After 1 week an update arrived and voila!! all the shortcuts had images on them,Then after 3 days a new update arrived!! And voila now they're all just white again (And nope!! nothing happens when trying to add images to them the manual way).
Bought 10 digital blu-ray movies and had them on a internal drive on my win 7 laptop,Then i thought hey!! why not move them to a external drive and then move them to my new notebooks internal drive,Switched to my new notebook/Highlighted all the movies and dragged them to one of my drives. Message "The files do not exist" ???????,Then i tried opening one of them and again "The files do not exist" WTF??,Then i closed the window and opened it again And they were all gone (It's F...... 40gb of movies) And they just vanished????,I did not format the drive and all my other archives+files is still there,Spend the next 4 hours looking for them with Recuva (Nothing nada nips)
Window pop-ups when installing games/programs are often so small that it's bloody nearly impossible to see what the hell is written on them,Yep welcome to the magnifier (get used to it,Cause you're going to use it a lot) + wrong scaling so that those important checkboxes are simply not visible or the next/install option simply do not appear in the window.
Why are all my administrator settings resetted everytime i good damn restart or turn on my laptop again,I'm using the administrator account and UAC is turned off.
Sorry this is turning into a phd on win 10,Oh yes!! I did notice all the complaints about it before using it myself,Now i know why they're complaining
And what about the UI of the Os????,Is it just me or does it look like something made by LEGO??? Blockish squarish ugly.
I'f Linux wasn't such a bad gaming platform i would have moved over there in an instant,Take a peek at Microsoft community forums,And you will see an endless list of complaint's and troubleshooting from A-Z
