AIO or Laptop(2 in 1) » Post #18

Advantages

The main advantage of an all in one computer is that it occupies a lot lesser space than a desktop computer.

Most of the all in one PCs of today are elegant units and there is a style factor and pride attached to the ownership of the same.

Also, since the number of cables are lot lesser, the electric wiring and plug point need is less too. Needless to add, fewer wires mean less mess.

Modern all-in-one PCs also boast multi touch display taking cues from the tablets thereby making their user experience much more enjoyable.
Disadvantages

All-in-One desktops though look cool, have a few disadvantages attached to them too. The main disadvantage is the pricing itself. Most all in one PCs are costlier than their regular desktop counterparts where as they are less powerful than desktop PCs in terms of processing speed, graphics capabilities etc.
Upgrading and customizing options for all-in-one PCs are usually limited and mainly restricted to RAM upgrade etc. Also, it is not easy to tweak such computers and hence they are not a good choice for those who like to tweak and overclock their computers. Recent all in one PCs, though, have started focusing on the upgradability aspects.

Self-repairing an all-in-one PC is close to impossible where as a regular desktop is a lot more modularized and with some experience you can replace the damaged parts yourself. At this point, I should also mention that the spares and service cost may be on the higher side for all-in-one desktops.

At the end, it is one’s convenience, needs, space availability and affordability that drive an all-in-one PC purchase decision.

TigerHeart wrote: @ dukuntekno I don't require mobility for the time being. My little concern is about the space required by CPU to keep it. I've used laptop before. What's your opinion about AIO? Does it provide the GPU & cooling system like the desktop does? Coz I don't know much about AIO. I've never seen anyone using it. I only saw it in pictures on the internet.
If at all I need mobility, wouldn't it be easy to carry AIO like a laptop? :?

You most also remember, that exchange parts for laptops and all-in-one computer must be originate to fit in a fitted area. In consequence, they are harder to find and more titanic then desktop parts are pretty much all of suitable fit.

So, maintenance will cost you more for a laptop or all-in-one computer and take longer.

Furthermore, because the screen is part of you computer. If it breaks, you can't use your computer will being worked on. For a desktop you just plug in an other screen and you are back at work. Obviously, it's harder to upgrade to a bigger screen.

Heath is one of the things that damage the most of a computer. Tower desktops are originate so that the fan creates a vortex that helps cooling the parts inside. For laptops and all-in-one computers the space is limited, so it's harder to an effective airflow to cool down the parts.

Now, there is only one major disadvantage that a desktop and the all-in-one computer share. But it's a big one. Neither gives you to portability that a laptop gives you. Obviously, the portability of the laptop is what offset all the disadvantages mentioned before.

Let's analyse the alternatives that you can take if you are concerned in buying an all-in-one computer

The first and most evident solution, buy a laptop. For the same price, you'll have computer of equal power that able to move around. If you don't like typing on the small screen, it's easy to plug a keyboard and mouse in your laptop. Think a laptop screen is too small, you can plug in a screen of your liking and use you laptop screen as a secondary screen. Once use two screens on a computer, you'll never want to go back.

On the other hand, if you don't plan on inspiring your computer around, you should buy a desktop. I know that many citizen are going for an all-in-one computer just for the look of it. But these days, you can buy flat screen monitors dutifully designed. Then you can place your nice monitor on your desk and hide your tower computer under or beside it. Be sure to give him some air. Like said before, heat is one of the things that damage the most of a computer.

As a result, you will have a computer as remarkable you would have with an all-in-one computer, with a lot less disadvantages and with a much lower price tag. And if you don\t mind paying the same price then for an all-in-one computer, you can buy bigger and nicer monitor. You could also buy two and you used them as split screens. Like aforementioned, once use two screens on a computer, you'll never want to go back

We all sin because we’re humans. It’s how we react after the sin that separates us. Don’t ever let a sin stop you from praying.

We meet many people in this journey. Some pass by without a trace, others may stay. But thank those who came and left yet showed us the way.
