I think You should call to vet, not sure how it works in US, i live in UK and here i am registered to mobile vet, where i can call emergency even in Sundays, etc and she can come into my flat, it is less stressful for the cat, especially if he/she hate travelling like my Hunter...
She was fine Thursday night. Jumped up on the bed with me and half hour later got down. Walked to the hallway and let out a loud meow. After that she barely moved. She would get up and walk a few steps, then lay down again. When I woke Friday morning, she was by the front door. She messed on the rug but it wasn't messy. She has not eaten or drank anything since. She went totally "comatose" for 2 days. Today she's walking a few steps, then lays down. She doesn't meow. She won't eat. She won't drink anything. I can feel her hip bones already. When she does walk, it's in very slow motion. We tried chicken broth, water, milk, hamburger (cooked of course), chicken, etc. Nothing. I miss her talking to me and even miss her trying to trip me by flopping down in front of me on her side for petting. She seems to be in a lot of pain. She hid under the oil burner last night and wouldn't come in the house when I called her. I used to go out and yell, "Where ya at Runt?" and she'd come running. Husband, who doesn't like cats, is heartbroken too, because she would sit with him on the floor at night when watching TV.
I can't afford a vet. The neighbor said he took his dog to the vet and they charged $2700 to start...didn't guarantee that would be the total cost. We live on $900 a month. Runt was a feral. Mom, also feral, is fine.
I understand You very well, I also live with my partner and cat and we live on much less... it seems that vet costs are expensive everywhere but that sum that You said is incredible high. We adopted a 2 years old ginger male directly from other family where he been abused and at the beginning I have been 4 times in vet with him (neutering, 2 control visits and then a visit to only have prescribed spot on for fleas and parasites) and every time i paid between £70-£100...depending if we needed medications or only visit...I dont know how much is for blood tests, serious operation but for neutering operation i paid £86.
1. These symptoms seems to me like she might be poisoned...? If that is the case, am afraid that without vet it will be hard to keep her alive especially that she doesnt drink and eat, which can be very dangerous long term
2. Maybe You used any anti flea spot-on on her recently? Sometimes it can be dangerous as some cats tend to have allergic reactions or were overdosed. If You did gave her any spot on or other medication, could You please give the names of them?
3. Or she could catch any cat virus, that would somehow explain not having appetite and laying down most of the time ? If she dont eat, she has no energy to stand up and walk, i think that a drip would be crucial in her case at the moment...
Your problem with a kitty really touched me because i love cats and animals in general and it sad to me... in my opinion she really is in danger state right now...i am worry about her kidneys (no drinking, no peeing) esp. that cats has sensitive kidneys to dehydration and poisoning...they almost always end up with kidney failure
